Some of these include: 1. 1873- The first known gun sling in Forest Hill was made from an old saddlebag and used to shoot arrows at a local game preserve. 2. 1934- A metal framegun sling was created by Father John Carroll and used to target practice at the nearby Mission San Jacinto parish house. 3. 1951- A new metal gun sling was designed by William Pritchett and is still in use today by members of the Forest Hill Rifle Club. 4. 1957- A steel buttstock rifle sling was created by Harry Bowers and is still in use today by members of the rifle club. 5. 1963- A new nylon gun sling was designed by Dick Hebert and is now being used by members of the rifle club for shooting competitions purposes.
Forest Hill is a small town in Schleicher County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,342 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from a nearby forest which served as its namesake. Forest Hill is located in the eastern part of Schleicher County and extends into neighboring Waller County. The earliest known document referring to Forest Hill may be dated to 1835, when it was listed as a station on the Santa Anna River. In 1857, Forest Hill was incorporated as a village by order of Governor John Fenton Tyler. That year, it had a population of 150 inhabitants and was adjacent to what is now downtown Wichita Falls. In 1865, Forrest Pemberton donated land to create Forest Hill Academy which would become one of the most prestigious private academies in Texas. The academy still exists and offers post-secondary education through its Carrington School District campus today. In 1925, Forest Hills became home to one of two remaining oil refineries in Texas-the other being Midway Refinery near Wichita Falls. It closed its doors in 1984 but reopened in 2001 as an educational resource center for local communities across Texas including Wichita Falls and Temple University-now Wyndham College TX Campus In recent years there has been much redevelopment taking place around the town with new homes being built on top of old businesses and churches that have been abandoned for decades or more are being renovated into mixed use/retail buildings with multiple stories (known locally as "tower blocks"). One such example is Stroud's Baptist Church which originally housed a grocery store before becoming operational as an upscale restaurant called The Grotto early last decade followed by another successful venture called Common Ground that opened upshop inside an existing bank building just north of I-10 exit 172 on US Highway 66 about 2 miles south off US Highway 287) .

Forest Hill is a small town in Hood County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,856 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Forest Hill was founded in 1881 by George Forrest and his family. The Forrest brothers opened a grocery store in Forest Hill in 1881, which became one of the town's most popular businesses. In 1889, Forrest married Fannie Palmer and moved to Fort Worth with her. The couple started a family and continued to run the business until it closed its doors in 1914. From then on, the shop's proceeds were used to maintain and expand the wide variety of products that George Forrest had built up over his years as a grocer. In 1928, forest hill erected its first schoolhouse on land donated by Mrs. Lillie Kapp-Ferguson (nee Hargrave) for use as a gymnasium for both boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade students from all over Hood County. The School Board decided to name it after Mr. Forrest who had been such an important factor in helping make Forest Hill what it is today - an educational community composed of many different kinds of residents united by their shared love of learning! In 1969, during Lyndon Johnson's second term as president, he made forest hill one of several towns within Dallas-Fort Worth that received federal assistance under his " Communities Bill." This program helped bring new life and development to struggling communities across America through housing vouchers and other forms of financial support - all while helping improve infrastructure! After more than 50 years without interruption (save for some minor changes), our current schoolhouse/ gymnasium has seen extensive renovation throughout 2016 & 2017 including new plumbing/ heating/ cooling systems; restyling of inside walls; installation of Msgr./Mrst./Child care center; additionof two stories (above ground); major reconstruction & landscaping! Today’s students are exposed to world religions (Catholic church services begin each morning), math skills needed for college admission (& remedial English classes), health education via medical checkups & screenings every month (!), music instruction from world renowned choirmaster Ronnie Dawson (& lessons about local history every Friday night!), 30 acres currently being leased out for agriculture production (& more coming soon!), healthy snacks for kids (& adults!) available throughout school day (& evening!), free parking available just outside our door!), plenty OF green space nearby (including 2 soccer fields) – this “little” town has accomplished so much since 1928... And we hope to keep doing so into tomorrow!!!
Forest Hill was founded in 1879 by J.C. Richardson and is a small town located in Webster County, Texas. The original settler's name was Unknown, but it is likely that they were from nearby Bastrop. Richardson named the town Forest Hill because of the many trees in the area. In 1890, Forest Hill had a population of just twelve residents and was abandoned due to lack of crops or other economic opportunities. However, within two years, the population had increased to thirty-six residents and businesses began to open up around town. By 1902, Forest Hill had become an important center for trade and commerce in Webster County. The community continued to grow until World War II when it suffered heavy damage from artillery fire. After the war, Forest Hill experienced a renaissance which saw new construction including a hospital and several stores built along Main Street. Most importantly, however, the community grew into one of its most popular tourist destinations due to its rich history and beautiful scenery
