For most of Texas history, the state’s capital was Austin. However, in 1865, Forest Hill became the new capital because of the secession of Texas from the Union. In 1871, a fire destroyed much of downtown Austin and it was decided that Forest Hill would be the new permanent home for the state government. The city fathers set up their offices in what is now known as City Hall Park and began to build a legislative wing on one side of town and a military wing on the other. In 1895, when Fort Worth became an independent city, it annexed Forest Hill and most of nearby San Augustine until only Forest Hill remained within Travis County. At this point, local gunowners petitioned county commissioners to allow them to keep their firearms within their own borders. This request was granted and guns were finally allowed back into circulation in 1911 after passage of law number 10-621 (also referred to as “The Gun Bill”). Today, many people in Fort Worth remember how happy they were when they couldstill purchase firearms at small stores like Hooters or Joes Sporting Goods without fear of government confiscation. It wasn’t until 1955 that Texas passed its first universal handgun registration law which required all Texans over 21 years old to have a license to carry any type of weapon (or open carry if you wore your firearm openly). Unfortunately for Texans who wanted their handguns registered with the sheriff’s office rather than hand them over to gun grabbers at BATFE headquarters in Austin, this program never went into effect due to rising public opposition. Ironically enough, while gun control advocates may celebrate today’s progressivism where firearms are concerned (thanks largely to our nation’s current political environment), it was Folsom Dam which finally ended pistol Prohibition in 1931 despite NRA efforts – just two decades after Fort Worth became an establishedgun-owning community!

Forest Hill is a small town in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,822 at the 2010 census. Forest Hill is located in the center of the county and is bordered by Lubbock to the northeast, Commerce City to the east, Midland to the south and west, and Odessa to the north. The Saint Bernard Parish seat was originally located in Forest Hill but moved to Midland in 1912. The old post office building still stands on West Main Street near Highway 82. In 1859 two young men named James Gentry and John Sweeny purchased 2 acres (0.81 km²) of land northwest of what is now Forest Hills from David Fenton for $200. They named their new community "Forest Hill." This name stuck because it had been given to a point where a forest began; specifically, a hill that commands an impressive view of downtown Midland. In 1864 James Gentry married Sarah Merrill who also lived in what is now Forest Hills. Together they started a farm with six cows and five horses on their property which produced hay and wheat until 1865 when they sold all their land except for one acre (0.81 km²) adjacent to Pecos River so that people could build homes thereabouts. In 1870 JGentry bought another acre (0.81 km²) adjoining his first parcel from Edward Atwater for $10 cash which he used as part of his dream home – an adobe structure measuring 23 feet x 21 feet (7 m x 6 m). It took him three years just to finish building it including 16 months without sleep due to constant design changes while he awaited word from New Orleans about whether or not he would be offered construction funding on his dream house project that would include views of St Louis Cathedral across beautiful Lake Michigan On July 15th 1872 Forrest Gentry married Anna Temple who came from McLennan County, Texas four years earlier when she were 17 years old along with her father William Templeman & uncle Moses Templeman who had fled poverty & slavery in Missouri & Illinois respectively back then living near Independence Missouri under Brigham Young's rule after being emancipated during the American Civil War . Anna had been born within three miles of this original homebase (now Midland), Arkansas under such conditions growing up surrounded by Mississippi soil east of US-40 between Richmond Heights Road & Sheppard Avenue South before she finally escaped poverty early adulthood becoming Missourian middle class woman herself when her family moved back east following Union victory over Confederate forces at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865 less than one year after her brother William's emancipation day event! Forest Hill is a small town in Floyd County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Amarillo–Bryan metropolitan area. Forest Hill was founded in 1879 by three farmers: Abram Lyon, Isaac Myrick and George Wills. The first post office in Forest Hill opened in 1880. The name of the community came from a grove of trees near the original homesteads. The town started as a small farming community with a few homes and a schoolhouse. By the mid-19th century, forest had become an important factor in local economy and development because of its timber resources. In 1876, two railway lines were extended through Floyd County and Forest Hill became one of the first places in Texas to see service on both railroads. In 1907, Forrest Hogg established what would become known as Hogg Oil & Gas Corporation; this company helped spur development within the town after it discovered oil reserves near his property. After World War II ended, many businesses closed or moved away due to changes in technology and labor availability; however, some continue to operate today including A&P Supermarket (now Kroger), IHOP restaurant/bar/grill complex (now Red Mill), Lululemon Athletica Athletic Club headquarters (Now Saint Laurent) and several schools including Highland Park Elementary School which serves students from grades PreK-4th grade as well as White Sands Intermediate School which serves students from grades 5-8th grade。 Forest Hill experienced significant growth following annexation by Amarillo in 1959; over 100 new homes were built throughout the 1960s alone! However, during the late 1990s economic recession many residents left for more affordable locations such as Amarillo or Dogtown TX while others took up temporary occupancy within Forest Hill until they could find permanent housing elsewhere. As of 2010 most residents remain concentrated around their churches and schools with occasional visitors being allowed into certain areas for shopping or picnics during special events like Fourth of July parades etc.; but all are still home to about 1,812 people according to 2009 census results
