At its creation, Oak Cliff Park included much of what is now Forest Hill including Forrest Hills Elementary School and later also annexed much of neighboring Deerfield Village including Deerfield High School (now part of nearby Arlington). In 1967, Representative Garnett Coleman sponsored Senate Bill 1080 which amended Chapter 362 of the statutes Of Texas to provide for annexation byDallas County into city limits with voting privileges within those limits as well as within any other city or county having boundaries withinDallas County that are contiguous with those limits without vote privileges withinDallas County itself

French and operated for about three years until it burned down in 1881. A new store was built and operated for about 10 years before it also burned down in 1896-1897. In 1902, Forrest Hogg opened a general store which became one of the most popular businesses in town with its high quality goods and wide variety of items available for purchase including groceries, hardware,clothing and other sundries items as well as fresh produce from his farm which he supplied through his own garden center located several blocks south of the store on Main Street. In 1924 Hogg sold his business to Wernher von Braun who renamed it Huntsville Arsenal Store Incorporated and continues to operate it today as Von Braun Enterprises Incorporated (HVSE). On Forest Hill, Texas history goes back to 1881 when a group of settlers arrived on the land that would become Forest Hill. The first settler was Isaac Hebard who purchased 640 acres of land from the Mexican government in 1881. Hebard and his wife, Anna, started their own farm and raised crops until 1895 when they moved to their current home which they built in 1902. The Hebards were also the first people toIGHTSIDE SCHOOL DISTRICT which formed in 1907. In 1926, the Texas Legislature passed an act granting township status to Forest Hill. This gave residents more power over their lives and made it possible for them to build more homes and businesses on their land. In 1938, a post office was established at Forest Hill and it has been in operation ever since.
