Flower Mound is a town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Flower Mound was founded by John Freeman and his family on November 5, 1887. The name "Flower Mound" comes from a nearby hill that bloomed wildilies or daisies (Lysimachia angustifolia) during the early 1800s. The community began as a small settlement of about fifty people around the intersection of FM 620 and US 287 in what is now Flower Mound. By 1893, many of the original residents had moved to other towns in Hudspeth County because of land restrictions placed upon them by the county commissioners. A few years later, Texasan James Snedeker organized a wagon trainload of settlers known as the Creekside Mail Route forthe purpose of establishing new settlements along this route. When he arrived at FM 620 and US 287 in what is now Flower Mound on March 25, 1896, he found only five families living there and twelve wagons parked around an acre plot of land near Rice Lake which he donated to the townspeople for use as their first courthouse square. In 1897, when all but two families left Flower Mound for new crops near Wichita Falls due to drought conditions, Mayor Wm Burch laid out Main Street as it exists today downtown while still working with hand plows to Trails Utopia Cemetery which would become one block east of Main Street on First Avenue just south of Interstate 35E exit number 4A (Old Hwy 290). In 1907 after fourteen years without any permanent residents being established in present-day Flower Mound due to lack thereof either through death or moving en masse out into neighboring counties like McLennan or Waller County due to development bans put into place by then-Governor James Kossuth because he believed these counties were becoming too populous), commissioners agreed unanimously to admit two more local citizens: Mrs. Lillian Gibbs (née Noland) who had married an Oklahoma citizen named Clarence McGee; and her son Ernest Gibbs (1893-1965) who became mayoralty candidate in 1916 but lost against incumbent Wm Burch by only 313 votes out OF THE 2 MILLION VOTES cast statewide that year [source: Encyclopedia Americana] After much discussion it was decided that angling stations should be built within ten miles also so that larger communities could get fresh water from nearer sources instead having to travel long distances into remote areas such as Fort Worth or Amarillo each time they needed freshwater [source: Wikipedia]. One evening soon after Mrs. Gibbs’ arrival she went outside with her baby boy Ernie just before dusk trying unsuccessfully to catch a fish from a large pool near Rice Lake when she suddenly realized something shiny on top off some rocks next to shoreline caught her eye immediately since no one else ever seemed interested enough in fishing there until she brought it back home those days! She called her husband Chilton who came down right away & got his net & started netting fish right away! From then on every night before dark someone would come over & net their dinner! Today we know that this spot still contains some live bass artifically deepened with krill oil[!!]&craig gibbs Memorial Park located directly across Rice Lake from Mr.- ernie's house features *beautiful* irises composed entirelyof artificial light @ 6am+all day long!!!

Fifty-six years ago, Flower Mound was a small town in southwestern Texas. Today, it is a ghost town that lies within the boundaries of the City of Dallas. The city demolished much of the original community in order to build its own new city center, and as a result, little evidence remains of what once existed here. In 1868, when Flower Mound was founded by cattlemen on the banks of the Trinity River, it was one of many towns dotting the Texas Panhandle. By 1900, however, only around twenty-five people lived hereabouts. The town's demise can be traced back to two factors: firstly, oil discovery had begin operations in nearby Dallas just as Flower Mound began to decline; and secondly, there were no major industries in operation heretofore that could have led to continued development and growth for the village. Eventually Fountain Place (later renamed Flower Mound) became an enclave for Dallas residents who desired privacy from their larger neighbor(s). In 1941, following World War II ended with Japan's defeat and cessation of hostilities throughout much of Asia and Southeast Asia, many Japanese immigrants settled in this area which at that time still resembled Japan more than most other parts of America. Many among these newcomers took up farming practices similar to those used by their forebears centuries prior – including raising cattle – so they remained largely undetected until after World War II when they suddenly found themselves living amidst other Americans whose lifestyle may have seemed strange or even scary given their lack thereof.
The Flower Mound Archaeological Site is a prehistoric site in Flower Mound, Texas that was excavated by the University of Texas at Austin in the early 1990s. The site is located on the east bank of the Red River and has been dated to about 4,000 years ago. It was one of the earliest known sites in what is now Texas.
