Among these organizations were the American Red Cross (ARCS), which set up base camp at nearby Camp Bowie outside of San Antonio on December 12th. One hundred percent of all foodstuffs needed forOperation Decisive Storm were brought into this hub by ARCS workers; far exceeding expectations both inside and outside of the United States. Many residents who had fled their homes returned during or after the war; Flower Mound's population reached 1,000 by 1945. The Flower Mound, Texas archaeological site is located on the banks of the Brazos River in east-central Texas. It was discovered in 1922 by Dutch exploration team led by Hendrik Buell and named for a nearby hillock with similar flowers. The site contains evidence of Native American occupation dating back to approximately 12,000 years ago. The earliest known mention of the Flower Mound area occurs in 1837 when Antonio López de Santa Anna described it as "una montaña grande de flores." In 1851, James Fenton surveyed the area and found that it included a large mound which he called the "Great Mound." A year later, Robert E. Lee visited the area and noted that there seemed to be more than one mound present. Later surveys revealed four mounds at the site; one of them was later renamed the "Flower Mound". In 1922, Hendrik Buell discovered the Flower Mound archaeological site while exploring an adjacent bend in the Brazos River. He named it for a nearby hillock with similar flowers because he thought they would be easy to identify from afar. At first, little was known about these ancient cultures other than their occupation of this region for thousands of years. However, over time archaeologists began to uncover evidence indicating that these peoples were quite different from any others in central Texas at this time. For example, many artifacts found at this site date back to before 1000 BC! Additionally, there are paintings and drawings dating back as early as 3000 BC which strongly suggest that this culture was quite advanced beyond anything found elsewhere in central Texas at that time! Further excavation revealed more significant sites including dwellings and agricultural fields within miles of the Flower Mound itself. This indicates that these people were not just passing through on their way somewhere else; they had long been here! These findings have helped provide us with a much more detailed understanding of how these cultures functioned and interacted with each other during their times - something which is very difficult to do without physical evidence!
