In 1992-93, Flower Mound residents funded restoration of Memorial Stadium which led to its current condition including new lighting and extensive seismic retrofitting that has made it one of college football's most popular venues again. Aspects of downtown Florence were designated a National Historic Landmark for their architecture in 1978; this designation helped spur development along Elm Street between First Avenue south and Second Avenue east which now includes much commercial activity beyond what once occurred within downtown Florence itself due to Interstate 25 access across Roe Boulevard just north thereof making this area one large corridor for growth outside Downtown Florence itself since then also with some redevelopment taking place currently also adjacent thereto along Elm Street east including presently also housing developments primarily composed principally thereof situated close thereto near Terminal Ave./I-25 junction providing transportation options theretowithin likewise
Flower Mound is a city in and the county seat of Butler County, Texas, United States. The population was 9,871 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1851 as an agricultural town on the Wichita River by farmers from Kansas. The city began to grow rapidly after the construction of the Union Pacific Railroad in 1881 made it available for shipment of crops to Chicago. By 1907, Flower Mound had become one of the largest cities in Texas with a population over 100,000. The city's growth slowed during World War II as defence needs led to a decrease in production at local mills. However, after the war Flowers growth resumed and reached its peak between 1960 and 1970 with a population over 200,000. In recent years there has been a decline in population following several natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina which caused extensive damage to many buildings and businesses within the city limits
