In 1871 Congress authorized Ulysses S Grant’s administration to build a road through Central America which led intoTexas that would connectNew Orleans with Austin; this road is now known as I-35W . One reason why not much has changed since 1830 is that there is no historical marker recognizing Flower Mound as part of Texas history
