In 1925, Harry Chandler bought 5 acres (20 hectares) northeast of current day Farmers Branch to establish what became known as Chandler’s Ranch though he never lived there – he moved his cattle operation east to present day Arlington Heights near Fort Worth in 1922 due to high acreage prices for good pastureland in that area at that time. Chandler also donated some land adjacent to his ranch for future development intortxactly where Interstate 20 now meets Main Street – this parcel became home to Farmer’s Grove Shopping Center north of I-20 between Loop 610 West/I-635W and Elmhurst Road/Upperloop Rd., later renamed Belmont Drive before reverting back to its original name upon developer Harry Chandler’s death in 1984 following years of public pressure from residents who wanted more retail development nearby their southern edge arterial road).
