Euless is a city in Texas, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The population was 171,811 at the 2010 census. It is included in the Dallas–Fort Worth-Arlington Combined Statistical Area. The City of Euless was founded on November 3, 1881 by John W. Grimes as a town within Rangeley County to serve as an agricultural center for cattle and other livestock operations running east from Fort Worth. On December 30, 1883, Rangeley County dissolved and Euless became part of Trinity County which in turn became part of the new state of Texas on January 6, 1907. The post office at Euless served until 1919 when it was discontinued due to changes in postal service within Texas. The first stores opened in 1889 with J P Rourke selling groceries and general merchandise including saddles and horseshoes from his store across the street from what is now the old Masonic Temple building on Main Street; later that year C F Denny brought in a carriage garage to serve as additional business space near his home on Elm Street west of downtown Euless; woolen fabric merchants Charles Biddle and Hiram Sibley also established themselves here soon after opening their businesses around 1900 In 1901 Judge George Hundt organized a county militia company called "The Texans" under command of Col William Bowen After annexation by Arlington Heights into Arlington County on January 1st 1913 (the day before Dallas), three years later that year all retail business closed down except for one grocery store - Snively's Grocery which remained open until 1927 Adolf Kapp purchased Snively's property adjacent to Arlington Heights Municipal Services Building (now known as City Hall) and reopened the store as "EULESS CITY GROCERY" - serving primarily local residents until 1962 when he sold it to Sam Rayburn who operated it until 1984 when it passed through ownership hands two more times before becoming municipally owned again With most commercial activity having ceased by then there were only concessionaires remaining such as Candyland USA licensed from 1957-1983 by Don Freeman who operated it during that time before closing it down permanently c1991; prior to its closure several large homes/condos had been erected along US 75 southwest of downtown during this time period with no major redevelopment taking place . However, development has resumed recently with several high end properties being built nears Uptown Park & Main Streets . Finally over 100 years after incorporation: A sign reading 'EULESS CITY' still hangs outside Ofc Sam Rayburn's former dealership location just off IH 35 northwest of Downtown

The city was founded in 1879 by James Withers and named for his wife, Eliza York Euless. It grew rapidly during the 19th century due to its location on the Chisholm Trail and oil discoveries nearby. By 1920, it had reached a peak population of 100,000 with an economy based primarily on agriculture. However, after World War II decline commenced as industry declined and suburbanization spread through the area; today's Euless has a population density of only 17 people per square mile (6 people per square kilometer). In 2000, Forbes listed Euless as one of "The 25 Most Diverse Cities in America". Founded by James Withers in 1879 as part of what would become Rusk County (later Hidalgo County), Euless became a town in 1907 when it annexed portions of Hudspeth County; at that time it had a population totaling just 5 people. The post office at first served only residents within Rusk County; however, mail started being sent to Eula from other counties soon thereafter. A railroad depot was built here in 1912 and soon saw passenger traffic increasing; thisUnfortunately led to increased development around town which reduced access to farmland near downtown for local farmers who depended on rail transportation for their goods In 1920 there were over 100 000 people living in what is now called "EULESS." At that time most residents worked outside the downtown core where they constructed housing units above ground level or developers built high rise apartments which are still standing today This period also saw some major technological advances such as automobiles beginning to be sold here and many businesses opened up including Ford Motors Company In 1950 services began flowing into town from all over Houston via Interstate 10 making it easier for drivers to get here while continuing agricultural production All these new arrivals led not just to job growth but also an increase in housing prices which continue up until present day
