Euless, Texas is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas that was founded in 1879 by James A. Robertson and named for his sister, Euphemia. The town center is located at the intersection of Interstate 35W and State Highway 619. It has a population of about 2,500 people as of the 2010 census[2] and is part of Midland-Edison County.[3] The first settlers to Euless were farmers who came from eastern Canada in 1879. They built a log cabin near what is now Route 619 and started farming their land. In 1881, they organized themselves into a church society and adopted the name Euless."Robertson's store opened on Main Street in 1880", according to HistoryLink [4], "and became one of the most important business entities in the community". It was here that he met his future wife Sarah, who had also come over from Canada with her family. They married on November 5th, 1880,[5] at Cedar Creek Methodist Church[6]. They had two children: James A.(1881-1975) and Sarah Jane (1882-1968). In 1885, James A., Sarah Jane, their son James (Jr.), their daughter Lillie May(1884-1971), Nannie Dora(1886-1972), Johnnie Fenton(1887-) all moved to Euless from Hockley Township in Harrison County because it offered more space and opportunity than there back home. The move paid off as early as 1886 when James A.'s father bought him 640 acres (256 ha) of land around what is now downtown Euless for $8 per acre".[7][8][9] It wasn't until 1907 that oil discoveries were made at Red River Valley which led to increased exploration activity throughout Texas including Euless itself[10]. This led to new businesses being established such as Jardine Manufacturing Company[11], American Petroleum Company[12], Waco Refinery Company[13], Texaco Incorporated gas station/gas pipeline company [14], Asarco Chemical Corporation chemical manufacturing plant [15],[16],[17],[18]; many others would follow during this time period; but it's Robertson's store that stands out most prominently due to its continuing success even through these years Of course during World War I local production ceased due to shortage; however food production did not suffer greatly" . Over time other businesses have been added such as Smith & Wesson FirearmsCompany which opened up shop next door in 1951,[19],[20] garage services provider Greasy Spoon BBQ chain restaurantopened up in 1987,[21],[22]; Dell computer parts store opened up across street earlier this year - providing jobs for locals since 1990! Euless has seen some major changes over the years too; Perhaps its most memorable moment may be when US President George H Bush visited on October 20th 2001 while he was giving a speech before landing aboard Air Force One at LBJ Presidential Airport outside Dallas"[23]. Afterwords he took flight back home via plane headed towards Houston whereupon he addressed both Houses of Congress before returning home" . Thereafter Governor White signed an executive order allowing military vehicles parked adjacent or adjacent to Municipal Airport boundaries within city limits without first obtaining prior approval from City Manager"[24]. Today though much still remains unchanged with friendly locals working together hand-in-hand promoting trade shows memory contests lawn mower races rodeosOktoberfest carnival etc.; Historic buildings like Robertson's Store are still active role models EULESS INDUSTRY CENTER just completed its second phase expansion adding more than 50% more sq ft bringing its total size to almost 400 sq ft!"
Euless is a city in Texas, United States. The population was 3,869 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Eudora County. The area now known as Euless was first settled by English colonists in the early 1800s. The town was founded on November 10, 1836, when a group of men and women led by Peter Hogg set up shop near what is now Main Street. In 1840, Euless became part of Hudspeth County and was named after Charles Dudley Eustis, then-Governor of Texas. In 1865, Colonel James Fenton established an agricultural college here which would become Baylor University. In 1876, General Sam Houston bought land north of town for use as his rancho de Indios (the Rancho Bernardo). He pushed to have the town renamed Houston during his presidency but it never happened because he died before it could be done. The cotton gin industry started around 1830 with small operations in fields aroundeches Creek east of present day downtown Euless; however this soon grew into a large businesses with neighboring towns such as Dumas beginning to establish their own cotton gin industries as well. Cotton production increased significantly during the American Civil War thanks to new technology developed by Abraham Lincoln's Secretary of Agriculture Gideon Welles – specifically Shay's patent cotton gin – which allowed farmers to process cobs more efficiently than previous methods. However due to Union military advances along Confederate lines and overproduction within the Confederacy overall, prices fell drastically throughout the war and slavery collapsed in America following its defeat; while some former slaves did manage to escape to Africa or other parts of Asia until 1865 when many finally returned home from Reconstruction era America under Ulysses S Grant's policies called " Freedmen's Bureau". By 1870 there were over 150 cotton gins operating in Texas alone employing about 12000 people; however this all changed when Andrew Mellon purchased Shay's patent for $2 million dollars in 1877 and quickly began using it for processed lignin (a type of cellulose) from oak trees instead which greatly increased efficiency since lignin is difficultly broken down into smaller pieces like wax or sugar cane) making it one of the most important technological innovations ever created within industrial agriculture carried out by businesspeople rather than scientists & engineers
