Ennis is a town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It lies on the Ennis-Ransom Road and is just east of Fort Worth. However, most significant to Ennis' growth as an agricultural center came during World War II: The Bataan Death March brought many Japanese prisoners of war to Fort Worth to be processed into military service; as a result, there were more farmers coming through Ennis looking for work than ever before. Many Japanese-owned businesses were born out of this period: Miso Kakuen opened its first store in 1945 adjacent to Baylor University’s School of Medicine | now Baylor College of Medicine], while Iso Nippon began production on nearby Highway 820 near what is now Johnson Valley High School (now US 71) which would lead eventually to Toyota’s plant south east of town which commenced operations in 1951.] After World War II ended there were continued waves of immigrants moving into town from Mexico and other parts of Latin America—the latest arrivals being African Americans who had been displaced during the period following the end of segregation laws throughout much southernTexas]. This influx led to increased job opportunities for locals as well as development along Railroad Avenue which soon became known as “The Strip” because so many businesses lined up along one side or another looking for space.] As technology advanced during the late 20th century various companies such as IBM[which started operations at their current location across from US 71]and Hughes Aircraft started up shop hereabouts starting with Buddy Beaumont Hi-Fi Radio Corporation located on FM 965 beginning manufacture radios back then...]and later expanding into tape recorders,[cable TV]]and satellite dishes...]henceforth becoming home to some really big names like Motorola,[ Dell Inc., AMD],[ Cisco Systems], HP,[Lenovo Group] Microsoft,[Apple Inc.] concentration happening right hereabouts!]
