Gun chokes were an early form of firearms safety devices. They were Devices that would prevent the gun from firing by stopping the air flow to the barrel. Gun chokes were typically used in revolvers and pistols, however they could also be used with shotguns. The first known use of a gun choke was in 1892 when Alfred Nobel invented the modern shotgun choke. The shotgun choke consisted of a metal pipe fitted with a rubber tube at one end which connected to the receiver of the shotgun. The other end of this metal piping was fitted with a checkerboard or other type of obstruction which caused the pellets to miss their target and ricochet off of any nearby objects. While hunting in Texas in 1895, John Wayne shot an animal with his rifle that had been caught in a tree branch above his head while he was hunting deer below him on horseback. As he pulled back on the trigger, he felt something snap inside his rifle - it was his gun's choke! This event is often cited as the first time someone using a firearm died from injuries sustained during hunting etiquette (hunting without using a muzzleloader).

A cotton gin was built circa 1850 along with a grocery store and other small businesses before becoming known as “the people’s store” thanks to its large quantity of goods available without added prices or markups through direct sale methods pioneered there by grocer Gertrude Chandler Smith among others early Texans — including future President Lyndon Johnson who bought items such as milk free from her then-storefront counter during his campaign appearances in 1978 en route to winning Texas Senate seat vacated by Lloyd Bentsen

In recent years Ennis has seen an increase in tourist destinations such as Six Flags Over Texas and Cowboys Stadium which have helped investments from commercial developers increase significantly throughout downtown area- making it one of the most lively districts in all of Dallas County
In 1847, the first Mormons arrived in Ennis. The community was founded on the banks of the Brazos River by Captain John C. Smith and his family. In 1849, Brigham Young led a group of Mormon pioneers to establish an outpost in what is now Fort Worth. By 1860, Ennis had a population of about 100 people and consisted of a small town center and several residences for the local LDS church leaders.
