Hildebrandt served as mayor from 1890 to 1893; John Laughlin served as mayor from 1895 to 1897; and Gustavus Grosch served as mayor from 1898 to 1900 before retiring effective December 1, 1900 due to age 75 years old In 1906 the city annexed much of Box Elder County including White Sands Ranch Road (now Broadway) east of downtown and all ofpresent-day Spring Branch Township north of I-10 westward to its current limits south of Loop 610 path. On July 1st 1907 annexation proceeding against Spring Branch had stopped when a state judge refused approval because it violated county law that no annexation should take place without prior approval from both houses of the county board Of Commissioners As early as 1907 there were plans for a dam across Buffalo Creek just north of town which would have created Lake Buffalo but these plans never came to fruition The City Council did pass an ordinance providing for regulation OF play in public places within limits prescribed by state game commission regulations promulgated May 3rd 1914 On October 17th 1915 EL CAMPO CITY COUNCIL PASSED AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF GAMBLE ACTIVITY IN PUBLIC PLACES By act passed 5 To 4 vote with Mayor Grosch dissenting

El Campo is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 562 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Before its incorporation into Austin in 1876, El Campo was an isolated farm community. The first inhabitants of what would become El Campo were members of the Stockton-based Mission Santa Rita de Taos Indian Mission and their families who had arrived in 1798 from San Francisco Bay Area on the ships "Plymouth" and "Dolphin". They named their new settlement after their patron saint, Santa Rita. The original settlers did not have much success growing crops because of lack of rainfall and poor soil quality; however, they built Adobe Walls to protect themselves from Indians who might seek to take them by force or ambush them while traveling through the marshy portions of Hudspeth County. In 1836, John Wesley Powell passed by on his way back from his failed attempt to find water supplies for California via Colorado River as he made his way upriver along the then newly opened trail that linked Independence Pass with Salt Lake City. On July 4th, 1836 he camped near what would become El Campo on Little Elm Creek (now called Hackberry Creek) and sketched out a map which included future towns such as Alpine and Georgetown on Hudspeth County land that he had explored during his trip downriver earlier that year. This event helped spur development around what is now El Campo including building railroads to bring goods south to markets in Austin and later Pasadena; this contributed importantly to economic growth in the region throughout much of 19th century US history.. In 1875 when Hudspeth County was organized it consisted only of parts of Travis County east of I-10; however within 10 years all but 1/2 mile (1 kilometer) north due west lay Austin which became its official metropolis status on February 14th 1870 following a vote by officials at city hall over objections from farmers east of I-10 who wanted more autonomy under one local government rather than three separate ones catering to different interests withinAustin. At its peak during Reconstruction following Mexican American War (1846-1848), El Campo employed more people than any other community in Texas outside Houston or Dallas because cotton plantations were established there as result of production quotas set by President James Kossuth upon passageof notorious act known as Comstock's Law - also known as The Ku Klux Klan Act - which outlawed secret societies controlled by white supremacists across entire America motivated primarily by hatred toward Native Americans for taking land away from Anglo European settlers.. Cotton production declined after emancipation but has been revived recently due largely to changes in global patterns resulting from increased wealth generated since world recession ended.. As cotton prices plummeted beginning around 2008 African Americans began migrating into rural areas seeking work opportunities despite enormous risk involved such as low wages, little health care options available outside cities proper for those without advanced degrees or family support, limited opportunity for advancement inside industries dominated by whites prior thereto – especially given racism & discrimination experienced both before & after migration among employers still concentrated predominantly amongst Whites nonetheless .. After devastating floods hit TX coastal communities including Corpus Christi & Galveston in 2011 resultant loss o jobs killed dozens plus homes destroyed etc.; Central Texas nonprofit organizations responded quickly with innovative strategies designed specifically addressing social needs & issues faced most impacted areas: arts programming focused Stolen Generations education programming music programs youth leadership council disaster response
El Campo was founded in 1887 by George W. Emory as a small town of about sixty people. The town grew quickly, and in 1912 it became the county seat of El Paso County. In 1926, El Campo incorporated as a city.
