It wasn't until 1912 when El Campo obtained its first ambulance service after becoming interested in health concerns associated with Spanish flu pandemics at the time. The growth of industry in El Campo during World War II caused an increase in crime rates within the city limits as well as throughout Texas due to increased demand for munitions by warplanes stationed nearby. It is likely that this mysterious spot was chosen due to its strategic location – just outside of major Mexican towns but also close enough so that travelers could easily access goods and services but not too close so as to disrupt trade or cause conflict between nations? At that time, it had a population of 3,000 people. Since its founding, El Campo has been home to many different businesses and organizations including two banks (First National Bank & Trust Company and Rio Grande Bank), two hospitals (Hospital Universitario Francisco Ibarra just east of downtown on Main Street and Hospital Regional Mexicano also on Main Street), three schools (Kindergarten through 12th grade public schools; La Raza High School; Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School) as well as numerous churches including Immaculate Conception Parish Church on First Street south of downtown which is also the site of one of Hudspeth County's few amusement parks open to the general public called "Pasadena" which opened in 1924 by local entrepreneur Juana Martinez Rubio with support from President Calvin Coolidge.
