In 1902 he donated 100 acres to the city of Austin for use as a parklandscape which still exists today within Austin's Travis Park Blocks neighborhood A major event took place in 1903 when Clyde Tomblin founded Tomblin Oil & Gas Company on Main Street near wherepresentday Eighth Avenue meets Lamar Boulevard. Tomblin began drilling oil wells around this time producing natural gas which helped power much of downtown Edinburg until Completion Halliburton acquired controlof Tomblin Industries in 1984
