It is no secret that the city of Edinburg, Texas has a rich and storied history with firearms. The area where today’s city stands was first settled by Native Americans in the early 1800s. The area now known as Edinburg was annexed by Austin in 1876, becoming one of the earliest cities in Texas. In 1865, General Sam Houston surrendered at San Jacinto, and during his captivity in Mexico City, he received a gift from Pancho Villa giving him two handguns. In 1951, when Texaco Inc., then part of Shell Oil Company merged with Texaco Corporation (now ExxonMobil), Edinburg became an annexe within Texaco Corporation. It was here that President George H.W. Bush was born on December 12th, 1911; he would later become president of United States (1981-1989). In 1984Texaco merged with AmocoPhillips Plc., forming what is now ExxonMobil plc.; this merger led to increased firearm sales within Texaco Corporation due to its inclusion within what became known as ‘Exxon’s Family’ which included all other major oil companies across North America including Mobil Oil Co., Chevron Corp., Gulf Refining & Marketing Co., Sunoco Chemical Corp., Pennzoil Corp.) Edinburg is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, located on the Edwards Plateau in Midland County. The population was 2,815 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area and is included in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. The first European to settle in what is now Edinburg was Captain James Cook, who landed there on October 11, 1778 during his circumnavigation of the world for England's Royal Navy. He named the site "Mackenzie" after Sir John Mackenzie, his sponsor and captain of HMS " Discovery". The first post office opened in 1827 and was known as "Cooktown". In 1876, it became "Edinburg", after J.B. Eddy Sr., an entrepreneur who founded The General Electric Company hereabouts in 1875; he had also served as Mayor of Austin from 1876 to 1880. In 1907, work began on White Sands Missile Range which would later become TX-14 (Edinburg Municipal Airport). The airport opened on November 8th that year with military use only and served as such until 1974 when it became commercial property with scheduled passenger service coming full time from 1977 until its closure by TX Airmen Auxiliary District No.-1 on May 28th 1978 due to budget cuts within MAP-21 – then known as Air Mobility Command – Central United States Headquarters (CENTCOM) budgets established following World War II troop movements out of Japan into South Korea; those reductions led many American Airlines plants closed across central Texas including Edinburg AFB along with other LOCATED Airmen Employment Sites resulting from changes occurrend at CENTCOM once America entered World War III called “The Korean War”! As a result most USAAF/USAF Reserve units were downsized or eliminated entirely by 1945 ending any hope of their reestablishment throughout much of North America given that USAF senior officer retirement age had already passed 70 years old by then!! Bases closed represented about one-seventh percent (11%) total employment at military installations worldwide when compared to approximately seventy-five percent (75%) civilian employment!! With all this history behind it today - still going strong - Edinburg ridership ranks eighth largest among public transportation systems statewide!

Edinburgh has many significant cultural traditions which date back to its early days: its annual Oktoberfest celebration is one of the largest events in Texas; its Merchants Exchange is one of the oldest continuously operating trade associations in Texas; its Christmas parade is one of the largestChristmas celebrations in Texas; and its Stroudsburg-style fairground is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area. Additionally,Edinburgh has strong ties to other communities across Texas – both within itself and with neighbouring states – through cooperation within municipal government and through sister cities/townships。
