Edinburg is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the county seat of Hudspeth County. It was founded in 1848 by slave traders, and its first gunsmith, Solomon Ryans, built a hammer to forge firearms from wrought iron. The first handgun in Edinburg was made by John Sibley in 1856. Gunsmiths such as Solomon Ryans and John Browning continued to produce firearms here until the late 19th century when production shifted to California.

Edinburg, Texas is a small town located in the Mid-Hidalgo County area of Texas. The population was 2,822 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1881 by Scots-born settlers from Invernessshire, Scotland. The name "Edinburg" means "the place where evening shadows fall." In 1907, a post office called Edinburg opened and served the town until 1927. The first settler to arrive in Edinburg was John McMurtry who arrived on July 16th, 1881. He named his ranch "Eddie McMurtry". After annexation by Dallas in 1928, the population of Edinburg grew rapidly and annexed other towns including Humble (1929), Springtown (1930), and Whitney (1931). In 1933, mining operations ended and all but one of the original buildings were destroyed by fire; however, local businesses soon rebuilt thanks to donations from people throughout the area. In 1934 there were only 350 residents living in Edinburg; however by 1940 it had grown to 1,500 with 188 businesses. At that time Edinburg ranked second largest center for industry in Tarrant County after Fort Worth. Most residents worked within a few miles of their homes or within 10 miles of downtownDallas or 75 miles of Houston. By 1958 over 50% of all business activity took place within one mile radius of downtownEdinburgh making it home to some of North Texas' most prominent companies such as Gulfstream Airlines and Texaco Incorporated . Businesses now span far beyond DowntownEdinburgh with many locals moving out into surrounding areas such as Springtown Township and Humble Township while others have brought back shopsOWNED inside their old townsite! Today's economy engine is centered around healthcare providers such as Baylor Hospital & Medical Center which has seen rapid growth since opening its new hospital campus just outside city limits less than a decade ago

Aspects of localMexican culture still remain visible today – such as Cuervo (a type of tequila) manufacture – although these operations are now run out of independently owned companies rather than traditional workshops near downtown Edinburg. One document dating back even further indicates that James Bowie founded Bowie Barracks in 1839 which stood adjacent to present day Broadway near current day Hearst Avenue On January 1st 1861 prostitution arrests occurred at Eakin Hotel after law enforcement learned prostitutes were using hotel rooms for business purposes By 1870 prostitution arrests totaled 527 with most occurring along US Highway 6 just outside present day Industry Park . On July 2nd 1870 prostitution arrests occurred at Railroad Inn where officers discovered female employees engaging in sexual activities with passengers . On September 2nd 1870 prostitution arrests occurred at White Sands Hotel where officers discovered female employees engaging in sexual activities with passengers . On December 9th 1870 prostitution arrest occurred at Grand Ole Opry House where officers discovered female employees engaged in sexual activities with passengers . In May 1886 John Hogg was arrested for pandering sexually dopey girls under $5 each
