In 1924, Congress passed a law requiring manufacturers of optical devices to include glass lenses within each product package so that Americans could enjoy good quality images without having to pay high prices for imported products. Edinburg, Texas is a small town in the County of Potter in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 2,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area and is located on the edge of West Texas. The first permanent settler in what would become Edinburg was Abel Ducharme in 1872. He built a cabin on Brushy Creek near present day Edinburg High School. The town started as a trading post with goods coming overland from Mexico City and other points east. In 1882, Wm H. Dean founded an oil well at Coryell Springs, about 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Edinburg; this well became one of the largest oil production facilities in America until it was shut down by environmental regulations and replaced by natural gas production stations more recently. In 1907, Edward Swayne donated land to build Central High School; this school served as both a public school and vocational training center for local farmers until it closed its doors in 1969 after serving almost 60 years without interruption. After World War II ended, many farmers moved to Dallas and others established themselves throughout West Texas; however, centralization continued through annexations by later towns such as Dimmit County and Archer County until only two remain: Haskell and Midland counties each have one main town within their borders alone while Edinburg has three main villages within its boundaries: Coryell, Brushy Creek/Edinburg Hills/Midland Hills, and East Edinburgh which encloses parts of South Midland County On July 1st 1949 when Midland County merged with Archer County there were 3 primary schools open including Central High School which closed due to lack of students or support staff following annexation but reopened as Montrose Middle School & then Clarendon Middle School before closing again due to budget cuts effective October 1st 2009 effective January 1st 2010 all other schools close effective that date except EastEdinburgh which remained open concurrently with EastMiddlesexSchools because they were forced to merge into that village effective that date when all other villages merged into Midlanderschools so their name changed back to originalCentralHighSchool

Edinburg is located in present-day Lubbock County, Texas. The first European to visit the area was Juan de la Cruz, who landed on the Edinburg River in 1541. The town was founded by Anglo- Mexicans in 1847. It was named after a small creek that fed into the Rio Grande. In 1848, the United States acquired Texas from Mexico and renamed it for General Sam Houston. Mexican settlers refused to give up their land and continued to call the town Edinburg, even though they were based in Ciudad Juarez north of this city. The town's name changed again in 1861 when Katy County was created from Lubbock County. As part of annexation by Austin, Edinburgo became a part of Austin on November 3, 1911.
