In 1912–13, Wm Hite built a ranch house near current day US 287/US 380 highway north of town; this became known as Hite's Rancho del Rincon (Rancho Rincon). From 1916 to 1923, Harry Ewell operated an oil well at present day US 287/US 380 highway northwest of town; this operation became known as Ewell's Well No. 1. The first post office in Eagle Pass was established at White City on November 3rd 1865 by James Fenton with Pemberton Killeen serving as postal clerk; it closed on October 31st 1865 due to lack of customers despite efforts by Fenton to reopen it again soon after its closure from October 10th 1865 until November 3rd 1865 under new ownership & name: "New Post Office".
