Scope mounts have been around for many years in Eagle Pass, Texas. The first scope mount was built in 1922 by A.H. Peterson and W.G. Stephenson from Houston, Texas. They used a pair of cedar logs to create a platform that could be attached to a rifle stock with two screws and an N-shaped bracket. This mount allowed shooters to see beyond the horizon and helped improve shooting accuracy because it provided more than 90 degrees of sighting range on both sides of the gun barrel. In 1952, Don Lutz patented his design for the aperture sight Scope Mount which improved shooting accuracy by providing up to +30 degrees of elevation adjustment on one side of the weapon barrel while maintaining 100% azimuthal focus on the other side. The following year, Lutz opened his factory in Eagle Pass and began manufacturing Scope Masts and Accessories under the name "Lutz & Sons." Eagle Pass, Texas was founded in 1876. In 1907, the town of Eagle Pass and the nearby Fort Bowie were merged to form the city of Eagle Pass. The fort was abandoned in 1912 and sold to a ranch owner who converted it into a hotel.

Eagle Pass was founded in 1875 by John A. Eagle and his family as a stagecoach stop on the Chisholm Trail between Austin and San Antonio. In 1902, Eagle Pass became an incorporated village when its citizens ratified an act creating that year by vote. The name "Eagle" came from Eagle Pass Creek which empties into Santa Anna River near present-day Georgetown. The first post office in EaglePass was established in 1876, and remained open until it closed in 1912. The current post office building was built in 1904 and dedicated by Judge George Prentice Hughes Sr.. In 1920, the community erected a Carnegie library which remains operational to this day as the only public library within eaglepass limits In 1932, EaglePass organized itself under statehood with a new Constitution providing forearcher status within the newly created government; this distinction continued until 1959 when local government reorganization re-established county lines within Hudspeth County so that all villages were located within one countywide unit known as Round Rock/Austin (though each village retains its own governing body). From 1935 to 1940s much of the production for national munitions plants taking place around EaglePass took place at Plantation Point Chemical Company where some of today's most iconic512pxtx buildings sit including parts of what may once have been America's largest open air munitions factory

Other types include bipod style mounts, which attach to rifles with three screws, and flash suppressor mounts, which attach directly to the barrel. The first scope mount was designed by Weyerhaeuser in 1906. It consisted of a Tube-type bracket that attached to the buttstock of the rifle using two screws and an axle. A later design added a notch in the top of the bracket so that it could be attached via straps to a sporting tripod or other support system. Bipod style mounts became popular after World War II because they allowed users To adjust their rifles for better shooting positions at all sorts of distances. The first bipod style mount was designed by Dick Cavett in 1951 and it consisted of a metal tube that connected to each side of the receiver and held onto the gun with two rubber bands. Flash suppressor mounts were developed during World War II as part of Project Mockingbird, an effort to improve accuracy while hiding military equipment from Axis snipers. The first such mount was developed by Norman Parrish and it consisted of an aluminum plate that connected directly to the barrel shrouds on Allied tanks. In 1974, Weaver-style Scope Mounts were introduced as an improvement over Weaver-style Antique Mounts used before that time.
