Eagle Pass, Texas is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas on the banks of the Brazos River. The population was 1,074 at the 2010 census. Eagle Pass is home to the world’s largest double-decker bus terminal and it is also an important transportation hub for many residents in Hudspeth and neighbouring counties. The history of Eagle Pass dates back to 1892 when American Railway Commission surveyor John Wickersham traveled through Hudspeth County and noted that there was no rail connection between Dallas and Fort Worth. In 1915, Route 66 ran through Eagle Pass and this led to increased tourism in the area. By 1938, local businessmen had built a large bus terminal near what is now Interstate 10 which served as the primary transportation center for residents in Hudspeth County. In 1969, American Airlines Corporation started service from Dallas/Ft Worth International Airport to Eagle Pass with their own Boeing 727-100 aircraft. This led to more passenger traffic into Eagle Pass and helped spur development around the bus terminal and other businesses nearby. In 1992, Republic Airways implemented a new route from Dallas/Ft Worth International Airport to EaglePass with their Airbus A330 aircraft. This allowed Republic Airways customers traveling between Dallas/Ft Worth International Airport and Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to bypass IAH altogether and reach EaglePass directly without having to go through IAH or Houston. As a result of this route addition, Republic Airways became one of America's major air carriers based in EaglePasses skies. Today, American Airlines Corporation continues services from DFW airport via their Airbus A319 jets while Republic Airways has withdrawn all flights except one daily flight departingfrom IAH airport until 2020 operated by Frontier Airlines on behalf of American Airlines Corp..
