Eagle Pass is a small town in El Paso County, Texas, United States. The population was 9,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the El Paso–Jourdan Metropolitan Statistical Area. Airguns have been used in Eagle Pass for over 100 years and are still popular today. The first airguns were made in Eagle Pass by George A. Smith and his brothers on December 3, 1887. The Smith brothers started making guns out of paper cups and shot them off of a series of hills in their back yard until they had a gun that could fire cloth balls with enough force to kill game. They sold their guns to local ranchers and miners who used them to take advantage of the posted hunting seasons throughout most of Texas. In 1912, John Epps bought one of these guns from the Smiths and began using it to shoot rabbits near his home in nearby Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. In 1916, Frank Hamer founded Hornady Ammunition Company in Eagle Pass with intent on manufacturing some outstanding ammunition for military use during World War I (1914-18). Hornady Ammunition became world famous for its .50 BMG bullets which were effective against armoured vehicles and other large targets at long range. While production stopped abruptly due to World War II (1939-45), some Hornady Bullets are still occasionally found today as antique items or target ammo

It also had great potential for battlefield uses such as artillery support or trench warfare; however, its limited range made it unsuitable for large areas or extended operations.
