Duncanville, Texas is a small town in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,655 at the 2010 census. Duncanville is located on the banks of the Red River. It was founded by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1881 as a cattle ranch and now serves as a bedroom community for the nearby Dallas–Fort Worth area. The first settlers arrived from Ireland in 1881 and named their new settlement Duncanville after General James Duncan who had helped expel Native Americans from Texas during the American Civil War. The Irish were among the earliest European immigrants to come to Texas and they soon began farming and ranching in what is today Duncanville. In 1907, when southern Midland County became part of Texas, Duncanville incorporated as a municipality. In 1916,clair O'Donnell purchased land east of town and established the O'Donnell Oil Field which became one of the largest oilfields in North America. Over time, other oil companies came to enter this area including ExxonMobil and ChevronTexaco; however, it remains Duncanville's most significantoilfieldtoday. Today there are more than 20 businesses operating in or around DuncanVILLE including banks (JPMorgan Chase & Co., Wells Fargo & Co.), general stores (Elva's Grocery store), real estate agents (Homes Realty Company), medical professionals (Driscoll Pediatrics) and technology companies such as Dell Incorporated (Dell Computers). There are also several schools within easy reach including Duncans Valley High School which serves students from grades 9-12; Southside Middle School which provides instruction for students ranging from 6th through 12th grade; Falcon Heights Intermediate Schools; and Stonington Elementary School serving students 5th through 8th grade. As one of North America's fastest growing communities over the past few decades, Duncanville has seen an ever-growing number of residents move into its neighborhoods with many enjoying access to quality schools, ample shopping opportunities and easy access to routes that take them away from downtown Dallas or Fort Worth - making it one of those rare metropolitan areas where you can find everything you need just minutes away!

The town was established in 1859 as a result of the land grant to John Duncan from Antonio Laredo. Duncanville grew rapidly due to its location on the International Railway and became an important transportation hub for the region. The original downtown area still retains many of its early features such as a three-story brick courthouse and two small churches located near each other on Main Street. In 1907, Duncanville was renamed after General Ulysses S. Grant because he had given his name to another nearby town, Grantwood. In 1925, the name reverted back to Duncanville after President Calvin Coolidge approved it for that purpose by proclamation while he was visiting San Angelo County. Due to its strategic location on Interstate 30 and its growth as an agricultural center during the late 20th century, Duncanville experienced some growth and decline over time. However, overall it has remained an important community withstood numerous challenges along the way including natural disasters (such as Hurricane Ike), tough economic times and years of dramatic changes brought about by technology advancements such as cell phone service and online shopping malls development in nearby Amarillo which have impacted much of rural central Texas over these years

Duncanville was founded in 1879 as a small hamlet on the banks of Buffalo Bayou. In 1911, Duncanville became a city and still retains its original name of "Duncanville." The City Council voted to change the name to "Dallas" after the merger of Dallas and Fort Worth in 2008.
