Duncanville is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The population was 27,592 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Ft. Worth Combined Statistical Area, which has a total population of 547,317. Duncanville was founded on December 7th 1881 by Scotsman and cattle rancher John Aitken and his wife Cornelia Campbell Aitken as Haltom City after they purchased 2,500 acres (1 km2) of land from J.D. Haltom in what is now downtown Duncanville. In 1886, Aitken and his wife incorporated the town as Duncanville Township under their name with 7 residents chartering it on Valentine's Day that year. The first post office opened in October 1888 and served until it closed on July 1st 1915; its location changed to where present day Good Samaritan Hospital stands today due to an error made when mail was delivered to both addresses at once! The first store in town was built near what is now Pioneer Hall on Main Street by Wm Burch & Sonoco Oil Co.. In 1902, real estate developer Harry Armstrong bought some of John Aitken's land south of town for $3 per acre (0·86 m2). Armstrong named his new subdivision Armstrong County because he owned most of it! He also constructed what is now Riddle Park which housed a general store and five homes before being torn down in 1922 due to water damage! In 1907, Jens Hansen started trading services insidePCL’s plant and eventually became known throughout Dallas for his excellent plumbing work! After working inside PCL for several years he left to open up his own business – Hansen’s Plumbing & Pipefitting – at 4th Avenue & Elm Street NW., later called Hansen’s Hardware Store Ltd., becoming one of Dallas’ first successful commercial entrepreneurs! With over 30 employees servicing customers within 3 miles (5 km) radius he quickly became well-known withinDallasareaforhisqualityworkmanshipandcompetitive pricing!! His success led him into other businesses such as building a shipping dock at Intermodal Terminal #4 adjacent to MacGregor Stadium during the 1960s which served as homeport for many container ships; this dock remains operational today providing additional jobs for locals during economic downturns! Duncanville, Texas is a small town located in the southern region of Texas. It was founded by John Duncan in 1867. The population of Duncanville reached about 400 residents in 1905. The oil industry began to grow in Duncanville in the early 1920s, and the town became known for its production of light oil products such as gasoline and kerosene. In the late 1940s, an armory was built near the town to serve the needs of government forces stationed in nearby Fort Bliss. The armory is now used as a museum. In 1948, Duncanville became an independent municipality under the name of Vanceboro. In 1951, it merged with neighboring towns Ozona and White Sulphur Springs to form a new city called Duncanville-Ozona-White Sulphur Springs. The merger was intended to improve communication between the towns and create a single governing body that would be more responsible for local affairs. However, few people within either town felt that they were part of the new city and many plots of land within both cities were sold off or neglected during this time. By 1975, only about 10 percent of the original population remained in either city center; most residents moved away for economic reasons or because they no longer wanted to live on theirOriginal City Limits!
