Dumas is a small town in Dallas County, Texas, United States. It is located on the banks of the Trinity River, about 15 miles (24 km) west of downtown Dallas. The population was 3,859 at the 2000 census. The town was founded by Mathias Dumas and his wife Catherine in 1853 as part of a land deal with cattleman William McKinney. On July 4, 1857, Dumas's father-in-law John Bigham arrived from Missouri to purchase 2,000 acres (971 ha) of land east of Dumas fromMathias' brother Pierre for $5 per acre ($140/ha). Laredo businessman Antonio López purchased 1,500 acres (590 hectares) adjacent to Dumas in 1865 and built a ranch there. In 1876–77 Juan José Castro acquired an additional 350 acres (160 ha), making Dumas its final full township status until 1907 when it became a part of Dallas County. In 1907 the county legislature passed an act creating one Representative District for each county in Texas plus two districts apportioned among Travis and Hidalgo Counties according to population size; this district included all or portions of twelve townships withinDallas County. With this change in boundaries most residents living outside the new Dallas County were forced to move into what became known as "the outer boroughs" around Dallas or into other rural areas withinDallas County. In 1930 Gilbert Murchison donated 535 acres (220 ha) totaling 6 square miles (16 km²), including present-day DumAStyle Lake and much of present-day NorthPark Village north of IH 35W on White Oak Bayou west of Interstate 10., making it available for water development near that point which would have made it contiguous with Arlington County then being created just northwest of DFW Airport eastward along IH 35W and southward along freeways serving Fort Worth annexation occurred during Lyndon Johnson's presidency effective January 20 following ratification by Speaker Joe Straus and Dick Gephardt resulting in Fort Worth becoming ArlingtonCounty effective February 14th 1959 while continuing to be called DFW Municipal Airport

The first modern gun light was created in 1876 by Nelsonic Electric Manufacturing Company of Cleveland, Ohio. It was called the “Nelsonic Flashlight” and had an output of 12 volts that could be used with either handguns or rifles. The popularity of gun lights led to their widespread use beginning in the late 1800s throughout the United States. The weapon light became synonymous with law enforcement, serving as both illumination for officers during arrests and searches as well as signals to other officers when they should stop or move away from a scene. In 1949, automatic pistol grip models began being produced which featured an on/off switch on the outside of the grip (instead of within the hand like predecessor designs). This made it possible for law enforcement personnel to carry multiple firearms without having to remove each individual handgunlight before using it. In addition, this design eliminated potential hazards such as accidental discharge while carrying one firearm around town. Automatic Pistol Grip guns continued to be produced until 1994 when they were finally replaced by blowback-operated pistols

Dumas is a small community in Tarrant County, Texas,About 25 miles east of Dallas. The population was 1,848 at the 2000 census. It is located along US-75 south of Fort Worth. Dumas was established by J.W. Dumas and his brother-in-law, Wm. Nolen in 1876 as a cattle ranch on the Panhandle of Tarrant County. In 1905, Dumas became the county seat of Tarrant County when its creation was approved by the state Legislature. The town's original downtown building still stands today and it is one of only two remaining brick buildings in town predating World War II (the other being the old post office). Dumas has had several periods of growth and decline over its history; most notably during the Great Depression when many residents left for lack of work or because they could not afford to buy food. However, during recent years there has been an increase in businesses and development within the community with new housing developments nearby such as The Villages at Dumas Ranch and Towne Lakes Apartments & Racetrack which have lured more people back to Dumas since their completion in 2013/14.. The first occupants were early Spanish settlers who named their land Santa Isabel de la Garza after Santiago Garza (alias Don José) who founded Los Trabajadores Mexicanos de América en 1795 near present day San Antonio de Bexar (now part of San Antonio).
