In Dumas, Texas there is a history of firearms that dates back to the 1800s. The area was originally inhabited by the Apache and Comanche tribes and their guns were used against these powerful enemy groups. In 1875, Colonel Edwin B. Mills founded the First National Bank in Dumas. This bank played an important role in the development of Dumas as a town and it is still in operation today. The first firearm to be registered in Dumas was a shotgun in 1907. The town's first police officer was named Wm. Huggins and he owned and operated the first gunsmith shop in Dumas. In 1929, Sheriff Fenton Clements created the first municipal court system in Texas using jury trials instead of traditional law enforcement methods such as arresting citizens on suspicion or charging them with crimes they had not committed. During World War II, many patriotic Americans turned to arms for war effort because they felt that violence would not be available if they did not have weapons. Many local businesses got involved in supplying weapons to the military including Norris Manufacturing Company which produced rifles, machineguns, grenades, bullets, tanks and other vehicles during World War II. Dumas became famous for its annual Pow Wow held at Black Mesa Park each July since 1911 which has become one of the most popular events in town square

The Dumas rifle company was founded in 1876 and became a well-known firearms manufacturer. They produced rifles, shotguns, pistols, revolvers, and rifles of all shapes and sizes. The company announced their bankruptcy in 1896 but reorganized and continued producing firearms until 1925.
Dumas, Texas is a small town located in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. The population of Dumas was estimated at 4,500 as of 2010. The name Dumas comes from the Chichimeca language word "duma" meaning "hill." In 1836, José de la Luz y Costilla founded San Miguel de Allende, now Zamora, on the bank of the Rio Grande in what is now Dumas County. The costilla family built a grand old rancho that stretched for almost 2 miles (3 kilometers). It was here that Domingo Faustino Sarmiento met his future wife María Antonia Cámpora and began to develop his plans for Mexico's colonization. In 1847, after years of effort by both Costilla and Faustino Sarmiento, Mexico gained independence from Spain and declared itself an independent republic under President Antonio López de Santa Anna. On July 6, 1848—eight days after US forces landed in Veracruz and advanced inland into Mexico—a group of Mexicans led by Colonel Francisco García proposed to annex Tamaulipas to create a new Mexican state called Alta California. Santa Anna refused because he wanted to keep control over all Mexicano territory south of the Rio Grande. On October 12, 1848—six days before General Ignacio Zaragoza's troops reached Tamaulipas and annexed it as part of Alta California—Ajax Golconda staged an insurgency against Santa Ana's rule in central Alta California known as the War for Independence or Ranch War. A total of 267 people were killed including 126 soldiers from Cuernavaca Battalion #1 commanded by Captain Pedro Armijo inside San Miguel de Allende when they opened fire on October 25th CE1848 during their revolt against Spanish colonial rule; this event is still commemorated annually with a car parade through downtown Dumas followed by a carnival atmosphere at Monterrey's Plaza Auditorium where local politicians attend mass

Dumas is a town in Gonzales County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,611 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Gonzales County. Dumas was founded in 1881 by German immigrants who named their community after Jean-Baptiste Dumas, a French general and author of novels about French cavalry adventures in North America during the 1800s. The first post office in Dumas was established on March 16, 1881. It was renamed to Gonzales after General José de la Garza Gomez y Costilla, Commander of Mexican forces occupying Texas during the American Civil War. The town started as a small farming community with just a few hundred people and quickly grew into an important center for trade and transportation on the Rio Grande River. By 1910, Dumas had become one of the largest towns in Texas with a population over 10,000 residents. In 1932, Hurricane-force winds passed through Gonzales County and destroyed most of the local cotton fields; however, Dumas continued to grow rapidly due to its location on railroad tracks which allowed for easy access to goods from surrounding counties. In 1941–42 World War II brought great change to Gonzales County when many farms were requisitioned for military use and many families left their homes; however, Dumas continued to grow rapidly as more people moved into the area for work or education opportunities. In 1951–52omination for mayor resulted in three candidates being elected without opposition; this led to growth in municipal government throughout Texas during the 1950s and 1960s A new school building was completed in 1961 and replaced an existing school that had been built around 1900; this addition helped increase enrollment at Gonzales High School from 100 students per classroom to 350 by 1970 In 1973–74 ground was broken on what would becometxstatehood Hall which now houses both City Hall and library In 1990–91 voter registration began becoming available online through DPS’ eVoting program; this made it easier for Texans across all demographics to register to vote Dumas has always been an important stop on Railroad Road between Fort Worth and Waco where farmers could sell their crops along with other items required for subsistence living
