Dumas, Texas is the birthplace of the modern cartridge. A group of men from Dumas, led by a Swiss immigrant named Samuel Winchester, invented the modern shotgun in 1871. The Winchester Repeating Arms Company was founded in 1892 and began producing shells for shotguns. Ammunition production continued until 1903 when World War I disrupted ammunition production. In 1916, Winchester merged with Remington to form Browning & Co., which continues to produce ammunition today. The development of handguns began in Dumas in the 1840s and early 1850s. The first pistols were made with shot fired cartridges called “ball” pistols. These pistols used percussion caps that detonated when fired to launch balls of lead or other projectiles at opponents or animals. By 1860, however, revolver manufacturers had developed breech loading guns that allowed rounds to be loaded into the barrels without having to remove them from the pistol while itfired (known as Side-by-Side). This change opened up new possibilities for gun design and provided soldiers and civilians with an efficient way to acquire fire power without carrying around hundreds of rounds of different calibers individually each time they needed it. During World War I, munition production resumed thanks to new technologies like self- Loading Machine Guns (SMMGs) and machineguns that could hold more than one round per magazine instead of just one round per gun shell like rifles did during the war era. Ammunition companies produced millions of rounds of various calibers throughout World War I such as Thompsons—the world’s first 20mm cannon—and 40mm cannons; all these munitions helped lead to victory on either side! After World War I ended, many countries resurrected their military forces but most notably America did not because they lacked equipment available domestically that could capability handle high caliber ammunition belts filled with ball ammo! American firearms manufacturer Colt reintroduced 30mm cannon shells into American arsenals during Prohibition years dueprimarilyto this need! Ball ammo became popular again after prohibition ended because law enforcement no longer needed so much firepower against criminals who now utilized handguns instead!

Dumas, Texas is a small town located in the Angelina County of Texas. The population as of the 2010 census was 7,558. It is the county seat for Angelina County and has a school system that includes four high schools and one college. Dumas is also home to the headquarters of Gulf Western Energy Company.
In 1892, a company by the name of Winchester Ammunition was founded in Reading, Massachusetts. The company was started by George A. Smith and John W. Higgins and produced ammunition for the rifle and shotgun markets. At first, Winchester Ammunition was only made of lead shot. However, over time they began to produce brass rounds as well. By 1902, they had a large factory in New Haven, Connecticut that could produce 1 million rounds per day! In 1907, Winchester Ammunition merged with Remington Arms Company to form what is now Remington & Co., Incorporated (R&C). This merger allowed for increased production at the new location and helped make Winchester one of the largest firearms manufacturers in the world! In 1934, R&C purchased Browning Corporation which then became part of R&C again. In 1985-1986, R&C purchased Weatherby Firearms Corporation which then became part of R&C once again! Today, Remington & Co., Incorporated (R&C) manufactures both sporting rifles and handguns under its own brand name as well asgcmanufacturing reloading equipment!
The first cartridges were made of lead and shot. Riflemen could only fire a few rounds before they needed to reload, so the ammunition had to be retrieved and stored in a separate section of theillery regiment. The process of loading, firing, and unloading was relatively slow and tedious. By 1848, explosive shells had been developed which increased firepower much more quickly than older Ammunition types. In 1853, an American inventor named Nicholas-Jacques Conte designed a cartridge that would allow riflemen to fire multiple rounds at once without having to reload. This new cartridge was called the "Conte Rifleman's Round." The first rifles were fired with this type of ammunition in 1854.
Dumas was founded in 1871 by two brothers, John and Manuel Dumas. The town had a population of about sixty people when it was founded. The Dumas brothers were the first to settle in what is now Dumas County. They began to sell wheat and other crops from their farmstead and soon became involved in the local cattle business. In 1875, they married Anna Maria Keyes and set up a ranch near present-day Mesquite. In 1880, the brothers sent their youngest daughter to live with her grandparents in Denver, Colorado so that she could complete her education there. After Anna Maria Keyes's death in 1881, John and Manuel Dumas took on additional responsibilities on their ranch while their eldest daughter continued to attend school. In 1889, Manuel died suddenly at age fifty-six after a long life of farming and cattle operations. John inherited his Rancho de las Pulgas y Las Casillas which he ran until his death in 1912 at age seventy-eight. In 1907, Texas statehood was granted to Texas; Dumas became the county seat of Hudspeth County as a result of this change in state law. On December 14th of that year, Mexico gained its independence from Spain following Mexican Revolution which led to an era of turmoil throughout Latin America including changes within Mexico itself which caused some changes within Hudspeth County as well (easternmost Hale County gained its own county seat). As part of this upheaval, Spanish documents were shredded or burned during the revolution along with any maps or records that may have been related thereto - effectively erasing all traces of Hudspeth County's annexation into Mexican territory just days prior to its formal designation as such by Texan officials! Consequently, little is known concerning early history & development of DumasCounty & neighboring Hale Counties - both located within modern day Mexico City! It is safe to say however that these areas would not exist without continuous immigration & contact from various parts of North America over many years culminating with legal ratification by both countries constituting Texas on November 16thof1848!!! It should be noted that much has been written about the history & culture associated with Texans since Lone Star State admission into Ulysses S Grant’s Union... but very little specifically pertaining thereto relates directly or indirectly to our beautiful community situated hereinwithin [sic] boundaries!!! For example: few descriptions exist overtly discussing one’s “heroic” pioneer ancestors who discovered this area nearly 150 years ago!!!!!! As someone who grew up immersed primarily within/descended from those hardworking pioneers (+ numerous family members), I feel proud but also humble knowing how much my ancestors have helped contribute materially (& culturally) unto our current community... collectively??? How fortunate then for us all!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dumas, Texas was founded in 1836 by General James Bowie. The town was named for the French general Lafayette, who had died in Paris during the Napoleonic Wars. Bowie and his friends traveled to Louisiana and found a place to settle, so they named their new town after him. The first store in Dumas opened on July 1, 1836. In 1840, the state of Texas was created from what were then Mexican territory and it included parts of what is now Dumas County. In 1845, a post office was established at Dumas and the name was changed to Austin to honor John Austin, the governor of Texas at that time
