Donna, Texas is located in Fort Worth County, and was named after Donelson C. Houston, who served as the U.S. Representative from 1872-1875 and 1881-1887. The site of the present day Donna was first settled by Anglo settlers in 1853-54, and then developed as a small town until it became a county seat in 1901. The name Donna comes from an early Indian name for the area which means "plain of the cottonwoods."
