Donna is a small town in Texas. It has a population of about 8,000 people and it is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Donna was founded in 1879 by pioneer settlers. The name Donna comes from the Dakota Sioux word meaning "place where the water flows." In 1909, the town had a post office, but it closed in 1951. Donna became an incorporated municipality on December 1, 1965. The population of Donna was 9,687 as of 2010. The history of Donna starts with pioneers who came to Texas in 1879 to find new land. They were looking for a place where they could farm and live free from Indian attacks. In 1909, the town had its first post office which served as a stopping point for mail service between Dallas and Fort Worth. However, this post office closed down just two years later because there wasn't enough business to justify keeping it open. Donna's growth started slowly but steadily over time due to its location and access to water resources. By 1975, there were over 50 businesses in the town and it had become an important center for trade within Texas' cattle industry. In 2001, when Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana's Gulf Coast (an event that would profoundly affect America), Donna quickly emerged as one of the most affected towns in America due to its proximity to New Orleans and its large number of military retirees living near Lake Pontchartrain (the storm's epicenter). After much hard work by residents and local volunteers, Donna was able to recover relatively quickly from Katrina - although some damage did occur during thestorm]. Today, Donna is home to many businesses that support local economies including: trucking company FedEx; insurance company Marshalls; restaurant chain Olive Garden; cotton plantation owner Donelson Farms; doctor Drury Medical Center; gas station attendant convenience store BP; Home Depot; Sears stores];[and numerous other small businesses]. Additionally, many residents are involved with their community through volunteerism such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) or American Red Cross.] The culture of Donovan includes Christianity which is deeply entrenched within the community[particularly among women] . There are also strong Hispanic&Native American traditions present[such as bullfighting], which have helped contribute significantly to local cultural awareness & spending habits [among both residents & visitors]. As mentioned earlier,[during Katrina], many people from nearby New Orleans relocated into Omaha & surrounding counties seeking safety & relativeness following what seemed like wholesale destruction (& loss of life). Consequently,. these transplants brought their own unique flavor & perspectives - evident particularly when visiting various neighborhoods across different parts of Tulsa County.. This migration gave rise not onlyto new friendships but also To recipes being developed specifically for TX/LA region by chefs based out of neighboring cities!]

Donna, Texas is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas. The population was 551 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Eastern edge of the Hill Country. Donna was founded by Anna Marie and John A. Huffman in 1878 as a small agricultural community named Huffmanville. The name changed to Donna in 1888 when Anna Marie's husband, William H. Duffield, donated land for the community's development. In 1956, Donna became an official municipality thanks to passage of the Texas Municipalities Act. Today, Donna is a thriving community with a rich history that has been influenced by its location and people. Donna began as a small agricultural community named Huffmanville near what is now Tyler, Texas on May 25th, 1878 when AnnaMarie and John A . Huffman donated land for the establishment of what would become known as Donna-Huffmanville Community Park today located just east of downtown Houston). AnnaMarie’s husband William H . Duffield also contributed financially to this venture which would help form precursor to present day Hudspeth County from rural Lamar County on one side and Brazoria County on the other side of Buffalo Bayou (now Tomball Boulevard) with about 4500 residents at its peak in 1880 Alone during these early years there were only 10 plows parked on some farms while others had 2 or 3; many homes still stand today back then all built ofadobe logs because there weren’t any concrete sidewalks back then! Anna Marie resided at her farmstead which she purchased from her husband along with 8 other families who had also purchased tracts lands adjacent to their homes between June 1st 1865 and February 16th 1870 inclusive living conditions were incredibly harsh due to lack of resources brought about primarily by war/the Mexican-American War; however they persevered through it all adding up over time until they could finally purchase additional acreage adjoining their home from Mr Wm Hickory & Co thru Mrs Jane Addams !! Farming continued along Buffalo Bayou until eventually water restrictions due largely to oil depletion after World War I led many farmers out into prairies for corn production becoming known as “The Great Plains Migration” These changes not only impacted our local economy but soon spread throughout much of East Texans area too thereby altering our social fabric forever ! Anna Marie later married John A . Duffield who donated another 6 acres adjoining his original donation plus lots #3 & 4 so that approximately 30 more families could reside within what would become known simply as “The Village” including future mayors James Kenedy (1924-29), Arthur Ashe (1936-41), Ann Richards (1981-) , Harold Wayne Wright (1983-) ; current Mayor Sylvester Turner III since 2013! By 1888 we had grown quite large enough that Mr Duffield decided he wanted his own town yet again so he donation lot #5 was sold off leading us down road number 3A currently known as Main Street !! After years of hard work - dedication & fundraising effort by individuals most notably Mrs Jane Addams herself – Donners Chapel Church was dedicated services started September 9th 1902 right smack dab in center field deed offered free by wife herself it became oneof Houston TXs first churches ever erected!! For 50 years prior Church services took place outdoors behind home where Attendance ranged from 30-50 people often enjoying Refreshments afterwards !!& oftentimes live music included Wednesday night dances especially following church service specializing in country dances like mardi gras or waltzing ) Sundays School classes were conducted indoors under Mother Hubbard direct instruction starting October 17th 1892 building continued unchanged until hydrangea taken over circa 1955 !!!
