Desoto, Texas is a small town in the Midwestern United States located in Lubbock County. The population was 1,869 at the 2000 census. In 1836, Antonio Desoto and his band of Spanish-speaking Texans founded the town of Austin on the north bank of the Colorado River in what is now Travis County.
