Denton, Texas is a city in western Texas and the county seat of Denton County. The population was 562 at the 2010 census, making it the most populous city in Denton County. It is located on the southern border of Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The name "Denton" comes from Anglo-Saxon "Deonton", meaning "settlement." The first European to visit what is now Denton County was Captain George Willoughby in 1839. He named his ranch after John Wesley Hardeman, founder of Methodism in North America. In 1845, cattleman J.B. Ladd settled near present day downtown Denton on land that he had bought from pioneer Austin entrepreneur James Witherspoon. Ladd became one of the largest landowners in Denton County and played an important role in early development of the city and county. In 1916, Mayor John Mertz proposed that the City Council establish a park system for all residents of Dentonville as part of a larger effort to improve public health and well-being within our community; this would become known as Parkland Park later that year. Today, Parkland Park contains more than 20 acres (80 m2) with several tennis courts, basketball court, softball diamond and baseball diamonds as well as a pond/lake mixture which provides ample opportunity for fun activities such as fishing or swimming; it also includes a playground for children aged 3 years old or younger laureateing national acclaim from Parks Canada since 2007 for its excellence when judged against similar parks across Canada by experts from across disciplines including architects, planners and engineers etc., Retail shops have been built along Elm Street adjacent to Interstate 45 between Center Drive NE & IH 35E just south of Southpark Mall - these provide much needed employment opportunities for local citizens during hard economic times!

Some examples include the warthog treadmill, which is used today by armies in order to help increase speed and distance covered; however, few people know about this type because it did not gain widespread popularity until after World War II when engineers developed improved versions based on Chinese military vehicles

Denton, founded in 1879 by Judge Royce L. Hill, is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was estimated to be over 200,000 as of 2019, making it the most populous city in Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Denton's economic base is its high manufacturing and aerospace sectors; however, much of the city is also home to large universities including Dallas Baptist University (formerly Southern Methodist University), Rice University and UT Arlington. The area that now makes up Denton was once part of what was known as the Wichita Hills region which extended from present day Wichita Falls, TX eastward to Rockwall and Fort Worth. In 1879, Judge Royce L. Hill bought land on the west bank of Buffalo Bayou in present day Irvington for $1,500 and began developing it into a town named Denton. The first house constructed in Denton was built by John Witherspoon on November 15th, 1879; it still stands today at 124 Neches Street. A post office called "Denton" was established in 1880; it continued until 1907 when it changed its name to "Irvington". prospectors discovered oil near Irvington and soon settlers were arriving from all around Texas looking for leases on this valuable resource. By 1886, there were over 100 buildings in downtown Denton with an enrollment of 350 students; within two years there had grown to 1,000 students and faculty with three colleges: Baylor College of Science (now Baylor University), Texas Wesleyan School (now Trinity Union College) and Houston Baptist University (now Houston Baptist University). During World War I many local businesses offered their services to the war effort such as shipbuilding yards or printing plants; these activities helped contribute significantly to Denton's economy during that time period. In 1923 Mayor Hinton Waddell announced plans for Stagecoach Boulevard which would run through downtown from Joe Dent Hospital southward through Second Avenue eastbound then northward through First Avenue back out to Joe Dent Hospital again before terminating at Harry Ingram Way Park adjacent to Fort Worth State Fairgrounds – this plan became reality less than one year later when construction started on what is now Elm Street between Broadway and Main Streetsatel
