Denison, Texas is a city in Midwestern United States. It was founded by George Denison in 1868. The population was 97,653 at the 2010 census. The Denison metropolitan area had a population of over 210,000 as of 2016. George Denison's vision for what would become Denison originated from his experiences with small towns in Kansas and Illinois where he saw the need for a town that could offer opportunities to its residents including education and opportunity for work. After much deliberation, Denison decided on the location of his new town which would be on the banks of the Brazos River. He named it after himself and donated land to support the town's growth. During this time period DENISON advanced rapidly as an agricultural center with cornmeal production accounting for more than 60% of all local exports while also becoming home to several important industrial plants such as Pabst Brewing Company (founded 1912), Ford Motor Company Research Laboratory (1915), Don Mills Paper Company (1917) and Koppers Drug Store (1920). The decline of agriculture during World War I resulted in a major decline in DENISON's economic activity but this did not stopDenison from continue advancing through other industries; however these times also brought about great challenges for both locals and outsiders who often perceived DENISON as "a rough place". In 1922 Koppers Drug Store became one of Texaco's first corporate headquarters when it merged with Humble Oil Co.; however even though this expansion led to increased business involvement throughout town many residents still felt left out due to lack thereof representation within Texaco company structures at that time including cultural exclusion towards Native American Indians who constituted most percent(s)ofDENISON'S workforce at that time! In 1948 DON MILLSPaperCompany merged with Dow Chemical Corporation creating perhaps one ofdenISON’s most significant technological advances resulting largely in increased available financial resources available to help SUPPORT denISON’s continued success during those early years following merger; furthermore during that same year denISON won its first municipal election ever being re-elected unopposed! One can only imagine how different things might have been if those early days leading up to today’s municipal elections had been more inclusive!
