The holster industry in Denison, Texas began in the early 1800s. At that time, there were no firearms laws in the Lone Star State. The first holsters were designed to protect cattle and horses from being rustled. In 1876, a man named James Wicks started a company called Wickers Manufacturing Company. He produced pistols and revolvers for sale to law enforcement officers. The company continued to produce holsters until 1911. During the 1920s, Denison experienced a boom in holster production due to the introduction of Prohibition. Holsters became popular for protection against contraband cigarettes and other illegal activities. In 1951, Denison joined the Texas Cities League of Metropolitan Areas, which promoted handgun regulation statewide. This led to increased holster production throughout the state. In 1976, Denison voters passed an ordinance establishing gun rights within city limits. This effectively ended local holster production within the city limits and began statewide output of handguns by Denison manufacturers only.Gun control legislation followed throughout the late 1990s and 2000s as more Texans transitioned from using handguns exclusively for personal protection to carrying them openly or concealed without fear of prosecution or loss of license privileges

Denison, Texas is a city in Dallas County, Texas. The population was 1,883 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Dallas County and home to many large businesses and high-end homes. Denison has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen climate classification Cfa), abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps. The Denison area began as a farming village called Uniontown in 1872. The town was renamed after George Denison, an officer in the Mexican-American War who had come to Texas to help suppress insurrections against Spanish rule. The first post office was established in 1875; it was located near what is now downtown Denison. In 1907, Denison became a city with a population of 10,000 people. In 1912 the construction of the Dallas–Fort Worth Expressway increased traffic on Main Street and led to the nickname "The Avenue of Death." A new freeway named for General Douglas MacArthur bypassed Denison and replaced much of what had been there before; however, most of old Uniontown remains extant today as part of parts of Elmwood Park and Richland Hills neighborhoods within Denison limits. In 1971 local officials designated portions of Richland Hills and Elmwood Park as census tracts within their boundaries which were specifically designed for density growth by developers seeking access to open space along I-10 corridors eastward into Oak Cliff and Irvington Heights neighborhoods outside its bounds; these areas are now some of DENISON's most popular neighborhoods with high quality homes prices available for sale throughout much or all their borders. Denison, Texas is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas that was founded in 1867 by James A. Denison and his wife, Sarah Jane. The town has since been located within the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area and is now one of the most populous towns in that area. As of 2010, Denison had a population of over 100,000 people.The town was named for General George Washington Denison who fought in the Mexican-American War and later served as commander at Fort Worth in 1847-48 before becoming United States Minister to Mexico City under Ulysses S Grant. James A. Denison arrived in what is nowAustin on April 15,1867 with his family from Illinois to start a new life north of Rio Grande River after driving out an Indian force that had seized their land east of the river during the American Civil War. In 1870 he married Sarah Jane (1793-1876), daughter of John Fenton and Lillie Beattie Fenton, both natives of Massachusetts who had emigrated to Texas four years earlier on account of President Andrew Johnson's order banning slavery inside our then newly acquired United States includingTexas (then part of Mexico). Together they established a home near San Antonio and began trading goods with Native Americans along the Llano Estacado which extended from today's downtown Austin through western Socorro County south to Brownsville and Juarez Municipality beyond today's McAllen County line eastward into Hidalgo County seat Canutillo even into present day Tarrant County . 1 In 1872 James A. Denison organized what became known as "The First Methodist Episcopal Church" which met first at his home but soon moved its worship services to nearby Missionary Baptist Church also built by James A., still standing today on West 3rd Street between Lamar Road & Interstate 35W just east side Temple University campus across IH35W from original church site where it stands til this day - large two story frame building Number 2 now house number 106 on lot next door housing Assessor office etc.. So many good things happened here during those early days when men like James A were setting up shop dry farming cotton while God watched... Including first interracial marriage ever performed here between white woman & black man back then too! 2 One such event occurred when Jaa drama queen Jennie Garza got engaged here to white rancher Johnnie Morton someplace around this time - kind folks like Mrs Garza made things happen right! 3 From denISON until about 1914 when WWI started thing really took off for everyone hereabouts - business boomed as people traveled away for military service or simply left for greener pastures wherever those opportunities might be found! 4 After WWI ended we slowly but surely reverted back to our prewar ways pretty much no different than any other place around hereabouts aside from maybelderly ladies taking care OF their gardens these days insteadof tending them themselves... until about 1957 or so when all hell broke loose big time thanks largely to oil discoveries offshore caused by North Sea Spillage! 5 All sorts ol' trouble came loose during those heady days long before anything bad ever actually happened hereabouts...) 6 Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid caught wind o' something goin' down an not only did they trystan picketlineDenISON roadblockbut they even shot at one o' denisons own citizens right there right outside denISON courthouse window!! 7 Needless ta say that things quickly calmed down an eventually everything turned out okay tho nothing ever quiteambaitedhere again!) 8 Finally more than twenty years lateron November 30th 1999 local residents finally voted yes upon a question submitted thereto by Mayor Joe Bonilla do ing exactly what they should have done all along given DENISON history (& current trends)
