Buchanan began manufacturing firearms in a small building on Old Park Row. The company was known for its high quality firearms, and it continued to produce firearms until around 1920. The town of Denison was founded by pioneer settlers in 1867. The first gun shop in the town was opened by Prentice Malcomson in 1868. By 1870, there were four gun shops operating in Denison – two of which were owned by men named Malcomson and Witherspoon. The Assault Rifle Company (ARS) was founded on May 10th, 1870 by George Henschel and William Gaddis within the boundaries of Denison. It became one of America’s leading manufacturers of assault rifles during World War I. In 1915, American Arms Corporation (AAC) began production within the bounds of Denison as well as other towns across Texas for ammunition sales to law enforcement agencies throughout the state of Texas. AAC produced high-quality rounds for handguns, shotguns, rifles, artillery pieces and more during this time period. In 1926–27, AAC merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company (WRAP) to form United Repeating Arms Company (URA). URA operated as an armory until 1957 when it merged with Remington Arms Company to form Remington Rand Corporation (RAND). RAND continued producing firearms until 1994 when it was sold to Lapua Firearms Industry Incorporated (LFI). LFI continues making firearms today under the name Ruger Precision Rifle & Ammunition products brand name

Denison, Texas is a city in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 784 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. Denison was founded in 1879 by John Denton and named for George Washington Denison. The town was originally located on the east side of what is now Midland County and had a population of only 100 people. In 1916, when Midland County was created, Denison became its seat. In 1954, Denison merged with neighboring Utica to form the second largest city in Texas (by size). This merger gave Denison an estimated population of 2 million people making it one of the most populous cities in Texans history. From 1955 to 2000, Denison experienced rapid growth due to oil production from the Barnett shale field that has since stopped.
