The area that nowdenies was first settled by people who arrived in 1859 from Illinois. A post office called Denison was established in 1876, and remained in operation until 1951. The community grew rapidly after World War II, as Alcoa began manufacturing aluminum products here and millions of dollars were invested in new housing and businesses. By 2000, however, Denison's economy had begun to slowdown due to falling prices for aluminum and other commodities; its population only increased by 1 percent over the next decade. In recent years, however, denison has seen an increase in growth thanks to a number of new business ventures and infrastructure projects such as the construction of the Denison North Toll Road (now I-30) and a new high school campus.

Denison, Texas is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,895 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Tarrant County. Denison was founded by James Denton in 1827. The town grew up around the Denison Arsenal and other businesses near Fort Worth. In 1881, Denison incorporated as a city. After several rounds of voting throughout the 1890s to decide whether to annex adjacent Arlington (then part of Dallas), the City Council annexed Arlington on December 5, 1895. The denizens of Denison were not happy with this decision and rioted two weeks later over what they saw as unfair treatment from their new municipality. This led to increased law enforcement activity in and around town and eventually helped contribute to the growth of downtown Denison which now features restaurants, nightlife, and arts venues like The Arkadex Theatre Company and Joe's Pub & Grill. In recent years DENISON has undergone many changes both positive and negative; some good while others have done more harm than good. On July 8th 2018 DENISON had it’s first ever Pride parade! Unfortunately due to rainouts throughout much of texas that day there was not enough space for all those queuing up for hours upon hours! However with so many people interested in joining in this inaugural event DENISON made up for it by having an amazing food truck rally! They served up delicious vegan chili dogs from Top Dog BBQ (the #1 vegan restaurant in TX) along with different sides like fries or quesadillas etc! Not only did everyone enjoy their time at DENISON but also contributed money towards toppling Confederate Soldiers Monument which truly shows how much love DENISON has for its community!

In 1902, Denison became the capital of Texas and it has remained that way ever since.
