This dam became known as the John J’s Dam and helped support deer farming operations for many years afterwards. After World War II, deer hunting became more popular in Texas so deer park began experiencing population growth due to this fact alone! In 1958, Deer Park annexed neighboring towns of Winkler (to the south) and Haskell (to the east). These annexations allowed for more development within deer park which today includes over 100 businesses inside of its borders! Today, deer park continues to grow with new businesses opening up all year round and it remains one of my favorite places to live!
