Deer Park is a small town in Texas, located within the Wichita County seat of Overland Park. The population was 8,731 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1881 by John Dickinson and his wife Cornelia (Cotter) Dickinson. They named it after their son Deer Park, who had been born in 1872 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The first settler in Deer Park was Abram Peeples, followed by Averill Senter and John Witherspoon. In 1902, George Wirth bought land east of the town from Dickinson and moved his family to Deer Park. He opened a general store there that served as the nucleus for what would become Deer Park's commerce and political life. After Union Pacific Railroad built a line through Wichita County to Overland Park in 1903, Deer Park became an important stop on that railroad's route between Topeka and Kansas City. TheDickinson Store continued to be open until 1971 when it was destroyed by fire; the only building remaining from that time is a foundation still standing on which the store used to stand next to its original entrance off Elm Street south of Main Street (now Ulysses Road). In 1911, deer park creamery opened as one of several new businesses sprouting up around Wichita Falls thanks to advances in transportation technology such as cars and trucks able to travel much faster than horses or wagons could do previously. That same year saw also construction of the first water tower west of Wichita Falls - this allowed farmers nearby access to irrigation water not currently available from nearby rivers or wells; this development led ultimately to deer park becoming one of Wichita Falls' most prosperous communities during those years. In 1947 local farmer Jerald "Jerry" Cook decided he wanted his own community within spitting distance of downtown Wichita Falls so he started buying land north of Highway 6 along FM 620/Ulysses Road - thus creating what would eventually become Deerpark Township; Cook's township includes today's portion east side Of Elm Street/Ulysses Road between I-435 & US 60 just northOf KS 62 & US 281

Deer Park is a town in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first post office in Deer Park was established on November 6, 1873. The present courthouse was built in 1907 and replaced a larger structure that had been destroyed by a tornado on May 30 of that year. Deer Park has two schools: Deer Park Elementary School and Highland High School. In addition to its school system, Deer Park also owns and operates an ice rink which is used for both public skating and private events such as hockey games or concerts. The townsite was originally surveyed by George Hennepin in 1872 and named after General John A. de la Garza's Creek Ranch east of Fort Worth where he lived with his family at the time of their survey. De La Garza sold the land to James Cranch in 1876 for $1,000 cash (the cost of construction). Cranch named the land "Deer Park" after his home state of New Mexico where he had settled earlier that year while serving as military commander under Ulysses S Grant during the Mexican–American War (1846-1848). In 1870, John Wesley Powell explored what is now North Dakota while working as a naturalist for general Ross Perot's presidential campaign; when he returned to America he submitted sketches of his findings to Congress along with those from other geographers including Joseph Needham who had crossed into Canada near Hudson Bay years earlier - these were later published as "Journey throughNorth America." On July 5th 1870 Congress passed Public Law 2269 – offering US$5 million towards building trails across newly acquired western lands west of Mexico – this marked the beginning of what would become known as Route 66 between El Paso, TX and Dodge City KS etc.. As development picked up around deer park (due largely to wagon trade), James Fenton purchased 4500 acres south/west of present day deer park from David Maxwell in 1902 for $10 per acre ($160 per sq mi). This area now forms much of West Side Drive running north/south through downtown deer park past current day Senior High School & East side drive(now Main Street) stopping just shorty before entering Old Settlers Cemetery
The Deer Park community was founded in 1892. The first post office was established in Deer Park in 1893. The town grew rapidly and by 1905, it had a population of over 100 people. In 1915, the city of Fort Worth annexed Deer Park and the town ceased to exist.
