Deer Park is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1884 by local farmers as a farmstead called Deer Park Station on the San Jacinto River. In 1907, it became a village and was named for Captain John A. Deer (1836-1914), an early settler and cattleman in Hudspeth County who donated land to the village. In 1919, it became a town and was renamed for General James Fenton (1786-1872), who fought in the Mexican War and served as commander of troops during Reconstruction in Texas. Deer Park is located at (29.685669,-95.547959). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all of it land. As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,752 people, 515 households, and 367 families residing in the town. The population density was 332.4 people per square mile (127.2/km²). There were 639 housing units at an average density of 151.9 per square mile (61/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 96% White; 2% African American; 0% Native American; 0% Asian; 0% from other races; and 2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3%. There were 515 households out of which 38% had children underthe ageof 18 living with them, 58% were married couples living together., 12% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24% were non-families.[1] Of all households 25%, 21%, and 16%, there were 8%, 4%, 2%, and 0 respectively

Deer Park is a small town in Hardin County, Texas, United States. The population was 596 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1907 by John W. Magee and his wife Lillie Bently Magee. It became a community after the purchase of Rancho la Mesa (now part of Irving) from José de Jesús Sánchez in 1912. In 1922, Deer Park incorporated as a City and had its first election that year, making it one of the original towns in Hardin County. As a city, Deer Park did not have any local government services such as fire protection or sewers; citizens were required to take care of these services themselves through private companies which provided these services until 1965 when the countyhood bill passed and deer park became an unincorporated municipality within Hardin County proper. The first post office opened in 1907 and closed in 1951; however, there are several surviving letterspresses from that time period which can be bought or leased for use as museum exhibits at the Prairie View A&M University campus library. As an unincorporated municipality, deer park never received tax benefits associated with incorporation into larger municipalities so public functions such as street lights, water mains and other public works were performed by private companies until 1965 when countyhood legislation passed which made deer park an unincorporated municipality within Hardin County proper In 1925, Walter Fenton purchased 2/3rds interest in die Antler Brewery Company and renamed it Fort Worth Brewing Company; this allowed Fort Worth beer drinkers living outside of town to enjoy their favorite brand while still having access to their favorite Fort Worth brewery inside town limits In 1957-58 Elmira Ivey built a large home on what is nowowned by Lone Star Beef & Pork Inc., now known as Circle K restaurant #2172 on Old Post Road near Interstate 10; Ivey served as Mayor from 1958 to 1960 while her husband Drury ran for office on three occasions unsuccessfully Ivey's home has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1978
In 1836, the Republic of Texas was founded and a new county was created called Deer Park. It was named for General Sam Houston, who had fought in the Mexican-American War and then moved to Texas in 1835 to become its first president. The area that would later become Deer Park was part of San Antonio County until it was annexed by Austin in 1851.
