Crowley is a small town in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,878 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Crowley was founded in 1879 by John C. Crowley and his brother, Harry. John's father had been a pioneer in ranching in Medina County and started the first post office there. The original settlers were Methodist missionaries who came to preach God's word to Native Americans and others near Crowley Lake in what is now Medina County about two miles east of present day Crowley. Andrew Denton established Denton College on land purchased from Chief White Cloud for $1,500 from him in 1884; this land later became part of University Park School District #3 (later Irvington Independent School District). From 1887-1950 the townsite of Crowley lay within UISD district #2 which was then divided into three districts: one serving students living east of I-10 and west of US Highway 281; one serving students living north and northeast of US Highway 281; and one served students living southwest of I-10. In 1950 UISD district #2 was redesignated as Irvington Independent School District with its current boundaries including much of present day Crowley as well as portions of Grand Prairie, Richardson, Plano Heights & Mesquite

Crowley, Texas is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, about 20 miles northeast of Athens. It was founded by Mormons in 1872 and named for Crowley, New York. The town was originally part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The population was 2,481 at the 2000 census. In the 1930s, Crowley became a stop on the Chisholm Trail which connected Dallas and Salt Lake City. The trail's closure in 1939 caused much economic damage to the community. In 1951, Crowley High School closed due to low enrollment and it merged with nearby Livingston High School to form one large high school. In 1957, another school district merger created McLennan Independent School District #1 which included Crowley and portions of nearby towns such as Richardsville and Crest Hill. In that year, McLennan also annexed parts of neighboring Hudspeth County including Crowley. This annexation increased the size of McLennan from 16 schools to 34 schools with an additional elementary school in Goffstown opened in 2003).
