In recent years there have been efforts to revive downtown Corsicana as a vibrant community with arts and culture options beyond just shopping malls and fast food restaurants . Downtown redevelopment began slowly but surely beginning with revamping of streetscape in 2007 followed by new development that included housing units developers hope will spur more business activity along Main Street . Plans are also underway for construction of an outdoor amphitheater adjacent to Drexel University that would be used annually for concerts by popular local music artists
