Corsicana is a city in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 940 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Midland County. Corsicana is located on the Arkansas River, about 15 miles (24 km) north of Dallas and 25 miles (41 km) south of Houston. The first European settlers in what is now Corsicana were French colonists who founded a trading post there in 1836. They named their new settlement after the Roman town of Corsica on the Italian Peninsula, which they had seen while visiting Texas during their exploratory trips in 1835-1836. From then until 1839, when Mexico acquired full ownership of Texas, Corsicana served as both the Mexican and American capital of Midland County. In that year, US Congressman James Womack moved his office from Austin to Corsicana to take advantage of its political importance as the Mexican capital for Texan citizens living east of Galveston Bayou. In 1840, when Mexico became a republic under President Antonio López de Santa Anna, Corsicanase petitioned Congress to have their city renamed "Mexico City". Their request was denied; instead it was decided that Midland County should be divided into two districts—the First District which included almost everything west of Houston and east of Canadian Creek; and the Second District which Included most of what is now Midland County except for parts around Corsicana Most notable leaders associated with this early phase include Sam Hays (who later served as Speaker pro tempore in the US House), John Hogg (founder and first president of Baylor University), Atherton Gardner (whose family operated oneof Brazosport's leading cotton plantations), Waco Tom Sawyer (a Confederate general during The War Between The States), General Lew Wallace (commander-in-chiefof all Union forces during The War Of 1870-1871), Judge Roy Bean Wagner (bureaucrat turned legislator who helped create both state government structure within Texas' original borders) The opening days in 1886 saw an influx of Mexicans who had come downriver following an amnesty granted by President Grover Cleveland following Mexico's invasion and annexation into America. With so many new arrivals came also social reformers such as Francisco Prieto y Paredes who introduced land reform into Mexican society through lectures he delivered to expatriate Americans living in Corpus Christi before returning home to start agrarian experiments here himself In 1888 local cattle ranchers formed a group known as "The Cowboy Club" to oppose prohibition efforts being pushed by Ulysses S Grant & others within American politics at that time By 1893 major economic development had begun with most residents having arrived or moved away from agriculture towards service industry jobs including petroleum refining etc.; however growth stalled due largely to drought & other factors On July 5th 1902 – 75 years ago today – construction began on what would become present day downtown Corsicana followed by rapid development over ensuing years culminating with complete demolition/replacement/renovation projects completed just prior to current day resident population size

Gunsmiths used oil to prevent Build-Up (a build-up of grease, wax, and other oils in the firearm) and to increase accuracy. In the late 1800s, gun manufacturers began using kerosene as a lubricant. This choice was based on cost and availability rather than any scientific justification. There were several problems with kerosene: it was flammable, had an unpleasant odor, was difficult to disperse evenly through a firearm (it tended to pool at the bottom), and caused fires when exposed to high temperatures or light. In 1911, Westinghouse developed propane as a lubricant for firearms; this choice was also based on cost and availability rather than any scientific justification. Propane had many advantages over kerosene: it was non-flammable (no fire hazard), did not produce an unpleasant odor, could be dispersed evenly through a firearm without Pooling at the Bottom, and caused no fires when exposed to high temperatures or light. Gun lubes continue to be developed today; some alternatives are vegetable glycerin (VG), mineral oil (MO), olive oil (OO), petroleum jelly (PJ?), beeswax (BXW?), xylene derivatives such as butadiene ethanoate/butadiene styrene copolymer CAS 8072-63-8 ($$$$ per barrel retail) or pentylene glycol CAS 91319-30-4 ($$$$ per barrel retail). Many lubes are available in both semi-solid form (such as propane) and liquid form which can be poured into various molds for injection molding or casting purposes

Corsicana is a city in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 186 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Corsicana was founded as a post office on November 12, 1869, and named for Italian explorer Giovanni da Corsica. The town was platted in 1876 by John Hance and Myron Whitebridge. The first store opened in what is now the old Gassaway School District building on Main Street. On October 19, 1880, the original streetcars arrived from Houston to serve the town of Corsicana with passengers until November 5 when they were replaced by steam cars operated by the Texaco Company. In 1893, one of Texas's first oil wells was drilled in Corsicana near present-day Lamar Boulevard and Elm Street; this well later became known as "Corsicana Wells". In 1907, construction began on a new courthouse that still stands today on Main Street just east of downtown Corsicana. The cornerstone for this building was laid by civic leader Augustus Chapman Swope on May 8th 1907. The court held its first session on October 9th 1908 under Judge Wm Clementson before moving to its current location adjacent to most of what is now State Park Drive in 1912. The Post Office moved out into its current building located across from Municipal Court at 208 E Commerce St., which served as our Processing Center until it closed due to fire code violations in 2006 interior walls were not pre-wired with proper electrical measures; result led to an uncontrolled fire that destroyed much of our annex including all indoor mail handling facilities (the USPS processed packages through an outdoor conveyor belt). On January 14th 1957 local citizens met at City Hall square and then marched down 2 blocks northbound onto IH 35W passing Administration Building where Mayor Harry Daugherty signed Resolution Authorizing annexation & incorporation into Midland County effective February 1st 1957 annexation included Brazoria County seat & about 21 miles long from US 75 east Anoka Road extending into Wichita Falls
