Corsicana is a town in San Antonio County, Texas, United States. The population was 27,362 at the 2010 census. Corsicana is the county seat of San Antonio County. It lies on the small but vital Rio Grande River and its economy depends upon cattle and other agricultural products exported to Mexico City and other Mexican cities. The name Corsicana comes from French-speaking settlers who arrived in 1836. They named their new community after a river crossing near present-day Corsicana. By 1840, Spanish colonists had established a rancho (a gift from Mexico) just north of where Corsicana now stands. At first, most of the people in this new community were men because there was no rail road connecting the area with anything else in San Antonio County. However, by 1851 women had started to arrive to work on the rancho as well and soon enough they formed an all-female militia unit called La Sociedad de Amigas (The Association of Friends). In 1857 Fort Worth businessman James Crain donated land east of town for a two-mile railroad spur which would connect his city with Corsicana; this made Corsicana an important center for commerce and trade within San Antonio County during its early years. In 1870 local resident George Muhlenberg erected the first school building in what became known as “Corsican Heights” northwest of town; he also donated land for a public square that still stands today adjacent to Town Hall Plaza west of downtownSanAntonio

Corsicana is a town located in McLennan County, Texas, United States. The population was 7,442 at the 2010 census. Corsicana is the county seat of McLennan County and home to the University of Texas at Corsicana. It was founded in 1868 as a rail-town on the Brazos River by settlers from Illinois and Missouri. The first school in Corsicana was built in 1869 by Presbyterian missionaries working for the Mexican government. The town grew rapidly after sidestepping a land grant from President James K. Polk that would have put it under American jurisdiction. In 1876, Corsicana became an independent city when it seceded from McLennan County. In 1902, construction began on what would become UT Corsicana campus; today, it features over 30 buildings including the main administration building and three Presidential Towers housing classrooms, laboratories, and office space for university officials. In 1907, Texaco established its corporate headquarters here before moving to Houston two years later. The refinery remains one ofTexaco's most iconic symbols and still employs many local workers today. In 1970, TXU designated portions of its Armstrong Campus - now known as John F Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum - as part of its education complex named in honor of then-Governor John Connally (D-TX). Today there are more than 150 buildings on Armstrong Campus including dormitories and classroom buildings accommodating 5500 students/faculty members across five campuses: physical sciences (including engineering), business/commerce/administration/Law School; arts & humanities (including Fine Arts); social sciences; health sciences; natural resources (including earth science); international relations;; broadcast media;; information technology;; law enforcement; economic development; etc.; making Armstrong one of America's largest educational complexes

The population was 117,859 as of the 2010 census, making Corsicana the third-largest city in Texas after Austin and Houston. It is also home to one of two military airfields in Texas – Joint Base San Antonio– Coronado/Fort Sam Houston (JBSH) and Fort Bliss (FBL). The other is Lackland Air Force Base located in San Antonio.
