In the early 1800s, Corinth, Texas was a small town with a population of just over 100. The town was founded in 1881 by Tom and Belle Caldwell. After Tom's death in 1882, the Caldwell family continued to operate the business until 1907 when it passed away. The business became known as Holsters & Ammo which operated until 1912 when it changed its name back to Corinth Armory. In 1915, the armory was purchased by George Waddell and renamed Gadsden Arsenal. After World War II ended, Gadsden Arsenal became part of the United States Air Force Base at Randolph AFB and ceased operations in 1955. The first handguns that were manufactured in Corinth were pistols made by Colt and Smith & Wesson. In 1909, Colt produced its first revolver here under license from Smith & Wesson.About 1922-1924, Colt produced revolvers for both Civilian (C&R) and Military (MILITARY) customers under license from J&B Selfridge Company of Detroit MI. From 1925-1927, Blackhawk Manufacturing Company manufactures revolvers for U.S MILITARY customers under license from Colt Firearms Corporation of Hartford CT). During these years Holsters & Ammo also manufactured shotguns using licensed designs from Remington Arms Company of Newtown Square PA.) In 1932-1933 Browning created their own line of handguns called "Tommy guns". This line was produced through 1934 and consist mainly of military type pistols chambered in 9mm Parabellum or .45 ACP with some Models being madeFOR THE LAW ENFORCEMENT INDUSTRY ONLY) From 1935-1945 Browning produce their own handgun line called "Mark IV" which is still in production today!
