This road became known as the "Corpus Christi Road." In 1907, Augustus Chapman donated land for incorporation into Corinth Township with a one-acre plat containing buildings and lots for $500 (). On December 10 of that year, the first meeting of Corinth Township's board of commissioners took place under charter number 5582. The trustees were Augustus Chapman (president), Wm Hargrave (vice president), Capt John Sibley (treasurer), Jno Peacock (sexton) and Rufus Matson (judge). In 1911, Corinth incorporated as a city with $5 million in assets and over 100 residents (). The Cotton Belt Railroad connecting Dallas to Houston ran through town from 1915 until its closure in 1978. This railroad created jobs for people throughout much of central Texas; however, it also contributed significantly to pollution due to associated manufacturing activity near downtown Athens where many trains stopped regularly for maintenance work between 1915 and 1978. After years of petitioning by citizens intent on preserving this important cultural heritage corridor – including plans submitted to local property owners – preservationists succeeded before federal regulators halted any further construction pending new regulations governing air quality control facilities located adjacent to industrial sites within 500 feet of populated areas

However, downtown still retains some retained architectural features from its glory days: Columbus Street is still home to one of Corinth's two hotels (the other being Fairfield Place), while Main Street contains several reminders of post-war prosperity such as a number of big box stores (e.g., Sears) that were built after World War II when oil production resumed in earnest.
C Corinth was a small town in Gregg County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,834 at the 2010 census and it is part of the Amarillo-Bryan metropolitan area. The first settler in Corinth was Wm. Fenton who arrived in 1836. The town was platted on November 12, 1859 by A.J. Garner and Jno. Clements from Corinth, Mississippi with a population of 11 people. It became an independent municipality on December 15, 1861 with a population of 121 people The first post office in Corinth was established on January 3, 1865 by Wm. Hodge On July 8, 1901 the town flag changed from blue to white when it merged with nearby Vernon to form the new Amarillo-Bryan metropolitan area
