In 1907, Coppell had a population of 1008 people and began to develop into an agricultural center with large cotton plantations and other products grown such as peanut butter and honey; however, this period of growth ended when World War I began & production peaked due to increased demand for munitions during the war but also caused some problems with labor shortages that persisted into the 1920s & 1930s; nonetheless, Coppell continued to grow rapidly through annexation by nearby Arlington which occurred in 1923; then by Wharton in 1931 which added another 621 residents; finally by Garland Heights annexed by Coppell in 1959 which raised its populationby 1125 residents making it one of the most populated cities within Tarrant County today (2010 census)
