Coppell, Texas is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 362,346. The Coppell metropolitan area has a population of 1,591,947 and covers an area of 316 square miles (813 square kilometers). It is the largest metropolitan area in Texas and one of the most populous in both the United States and Mexico. The town was founded by settlers from Kentucky who crossed the Rio Grande in 1845 to seek new land grants from then-President James K. Polk. On July 8, 1846, General John C definitive treaty ceded all present day Webb County to United States as part of what had been known as "the Mexican War." This event precipitated Fort Worth's incorporation as a city on November 1st that year by Act of Congress under President James K Polk. In 1858, following his election as Vice President on November 3rd (following Andrew Johnson's impeachment), Franklin D Roosevelt designated Webb County seat for Dallas with only 6 percent vote against him – giving it to Dallas! The city limits today extended beyond downtown into Collin and Harris Counties until 1959 when they were annexed back into Dallas proper! Today’s downtown skyline began its construction during World War II as manufacturing plants were developed along Dealey Plaza which now houses several high-end restaurants including Peruviansteak and Benihana; also located nearby are two shopping malls with anchor stores Macy’s and Sears; job centers; numerous banks including JPMorgan Chase & Company; Stemmons Energy; NRG Stadium home field for the Cowboys/Rams/ Texans since 1960 (you can walk or take a short drive down Main Street to see how football games have played at NRG Stadium over that time); several medical facilities such as Baylor University Medical Center (a world-renowned hospital) and University Hospitals Case Medical Center which specialise in surgical care; dozens of small businesses collectively called “500 Startups” - each providing more than 50 jobs - many within walking distance of their homes or work places! Today there are still many factories open along Dealey Plaza but although they generate much economic activity now they are not near where they used to be because production shifted inland after Pearl Harbor destroyed most major Japanese industry east of Houston

The first European to sight the area now known as Coppell was Captain James Cook in 1795. A post office was established at Coppell in 1836, and a railroad was built through the town in 1881. The population of Coppell increased rapidly thanks to its location on the Santa Fe Railroad, which made it easy to get supplies and trade with other towns and counties. However, much of this growth came at the expense of nearby towns such as Mckinney and Dallas. By 1920, Coppell had fewer than 100 residents, but since then its population has grown steadily until it reached its current size of over 21,000 residents in 2000.
