Gun chokes were devices used to prevent the escape of firearms by gripping them around the barrel and pulling. They are also sometimes called "stock choke" or "buttstock choke." The first gun choke was created in 1809 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte. This device consisted of a metal bar affixed to the barrel, crossing at an angle so that it would block the passage of breech breath (air) and create a hold on the firearm. The development of military rifles and shotguns led to a need for more effective gun chokes, which became increasingly difficult to make using traditional methods such as hand forging or casting. By 1870, most manufacturers had developed their own versions of muzzle brakes, stock chokes, triggers/pulls and other parts necessary for creating effective gun chokes. Even after all these advances, some rifles still required manual operation in order to chamber ammunition; this is why many shotgun enthusiasts consider stock choke devices one of the few things that shotguns have in common with handguns. In 1911, John Moses Browning patented his design for what is now known as an over-the-barrel shotgun trigger group – an innovative modification that allowed shotguns with single-, double-, or even three-gun barrels (i.e.,those equipped with both barrels) to be fired using just one hand instead of having two hands holding onto either side of the weapon's stock like with other types of guns. This meant that shooters could take advantageof long range hunting opportunities without having to fumble around with specialized trigger groups or trying to fire multiple rounds at once from close range. It wasn't until 1919 when Byron White invented a similar type Trigger Group called “White” which significantly improved shooting accuracy when using pistol cocked pumps etc..

In 1839, they built the first newspaper in Austin. They also constructed the first school in Austin.
