The town name derives from the fact that its original site was several miles west of present day Converse on Cowan Creek. The town boom began when prospectors discovered silver and gold nearby in 1881 and soon there were mills, restaurants, stores and homes being built to accommodate the influx of settlers. The post office opened in 1880 and remained open until it closed on July 15, 1939; one of the few times this occurred within Texas during that time period In 1951 Converse became an unincorporated community again when it merged with neighbouring Beaumont under then-term Congresswoman Cornelia Dickenson's leadership As part of the Master Plan for Metropolitan Dallas released in 1984, all but two blocks of downtown were annexed into Beaumont while portions including Converse east of I-20 became part of Dallas . Today many aspects which made up Converse (such as its cowboy culture) are still evident throughout most if not all parts of Beaumont: from independent farmers selling their products direct to consumers through local banks; businesses such as watering cans set off at intersections to depict "the way things used to be" before development took over; even some services remaining available only within certain areas like grocery stores or auto shops

With increased production came increased prices and competition from other companies such as United Artists Corporation (UAC) who began producing motion pictures using Baird glass negative films in 1912. By 1923 both UAC and Paramount Pictures had stopped making motion pictures altogether due largely to advances in digital technology which made possible high resolution movies without any need for photographic plates ordevelopment time

The town of Converse, Texas was founded in 1872 by John and Eliza Converse. The town was named for their son, Charles W. Converse. In 1879, the town had a population of seventy-six people and it remained small until the early 1900s when it began to grow rapidly due to cotton farming and the arrival of new immigrants. By 1916, the population had reached one thousand people and by 1951 it had grown to three thousand people. Additionally, the textile industry played an important role in the town’s growth during this time and continues to do so today. The town has experienced various changes over the years including a move from agriculture to manufacturing in the late 1800s, a decrease in its population after World War II until it stabilized in the early 1960s, a major fire that destroyed much of downtown Converse in 1993, and most recently an influx of refugees from Syria which has led to increased development in Downtown Converse.
