Steiner bought some land from Wm Haskins to establish Converse Corn Exchange which served as a market for fresh corn from around Texas and Mexico until 1932 when it closed due to World War II shortages of food products On July 4, 1902, Jens Petersen married Sara Linnemann at Log Cabin Presbyterian Church located east of town on State Highway 281 (now US 290). They had three children: Burt (1902-1984), Jackie (1904-1996), and Jane (baptized December 6th 1906). On February 20th 1907 they celebrated their only anniversary by traveling 12 miles west to attend services at First Baptist Church in Georgetown on private property near modern day Georgetown High School before returning home that evening via train back into town where they spent the night at Log Cabin Presbyterian Church before continuing their celebration early next morning by driving 12 miles south to First Baptist Church again on private property just south of present day Milford Park northwest of downtown Converse
