Over time, he additional land acquisitions totaling over 100 acres located throughout eastern Floyd County; these lands would become home to many ofColleyville's current residents. In 1922, when Floyd County was created from portions of Dallas COUNTY, Colleyville became its county seat; it would remain so until 1993 when Lubbock took over that role. As part of their efforts to promote recreational activities within their growing city boundaries – including colleyslide racing –the City Council established a park located at corner Main Street and US 281/I-10 West in 1927 which remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in town today! The rich history of this vibrant community is commemorated through numerous local events each year such as Pioneer Day (a celebration honoring those who have played significant roles in earlyColLEYVILLE history),Fiesta Brazilian Festival (a small annual event celebrating Brazilian culture), Folk Days (a series of family fun days featuring arts & crafts demonstrations & music performances),and even some recently added events like Mustang Weekend (an all-out carfest held every other Saturday) .
